When Lorna finally hit the bed after checking one last time on her sleeping daughter, she had been hoping for a decent night of sleep. Most of the time, her sleep came with nightmares of various types usually involving the same people. Tonight was no different than normal; however, Lorna had a feeling part of it came from the whole stupid plan of hers on trying to do the whole family thing for Dawn on Thanksgiving. Before finally falling asleep, her mind kept going over all the horrible sceneries even the ones that weren’t even possible, but her mind was making them very possible.
Drifting off to sleep, she found herself in the middle of a nice house. This was the life Lorna wanted for herself and for Dawn. The nice house, the normal life, not having to hide, and then he walked in, which was the one person she’d always care about, Marcos. No matter what he was the love of her life and here the three of them were a happy family. Smiling at the sight of him, she watched as he took Dawn into their living room to play. Excusing herself, she went upstairs with a plan to take a shower. Marcos was busy with Dawn, which meant she could have some time for herself.
While grabbing some stuff out of the closet, she heard the sound of a gun shot at the front door before it was busted in. What the hell? Moving out to the hall and looking down the stairs to see the son of a bitch, Jace. The smug bastard had come into her home, putting her family at risk. A smirk came over her lips as she went to use her power only she didn’t have the green energy around her hands. Why wasn’t her power working?
“No, this isn’t right,” she moved behind the wall, cursing herself on how she couldn’t get her damn powers to work. Marcos shouldn’t be the one fighting them on his own. He had to protect their daughter. But she was completely useless for some reason.
