WHO Cassandra Railly & Llewellyn Cornick WHAT Meeting for the first time WHEN Saturday afternoon [backdated] WHERE Combat Therapy WARNINGS talk of war, but otherwise not much. STATUS Closed | Incomplete gdoc
Llewellyn had filled out the paperwork, and registered herself under both names at Combat Therapy. Thankfully her fingerprints wouldn't change if she was in her demon form, but she let them know anyway. And gave photos of both sides so they'd have it on file. She was impressed that they were so thorough. It was nice, actually.
She had them set up a run in the Danger room against demons from home. She'd been detailed so that they'd be hard, and she was never happier to let her wings out and let entropy loose on enemies. Even amongst the hardest things they'd fought here she didn't let entropy loose. It could be unpredictable in the wild. Under a controlled environment, it was better.
Llew exited the Room after a long hour of hard training. Her very bones ached, but it was a good ache, and she felt lighter. Her wings folded tight against her back. She stretched then smiled at the woman coming down the hall, willing her wings away so she wasn't in her way.
"Sorry about that."

Cassandra was a bit out of sorts since discovering Cole was in town, though she did her best to not show it. She had important things to focus on, primarily her classes and what else she could do for Shadow at Combat Therapy. He was probably the best boss she'd ever had thus far in terms of being so supportive of her ideas and needs. He was also incredibly generous, something she was learning to work around since she wasn't used to it by any means. It did mean that she was giving back as much as possible and that meant spending quite a lot of time at Combat Therapy to be available just in case.
She was heading to the Danger Room purely to look through the scenarios that folks were using to get a sense of what people dealt with in their own worlds. It would help speak to their state of mind, she hoped, and that would help her figure out which areas to focus on in her studies. Real world examples made all the difference as far as she was concerned. She was slightly surprised to see what could only be described as not human coming towards her.
It was enough to make her stop, even though she knew the winged person was a member otherwise she wouldn't have been in the Danger Room to begin with. "It's...alright. Are you...did you enjoy yourself in there?" she asked, trying not to be too rude. Cass was just caught off guard, really.

Llew offered a half-sheepish smile. “I did. It was the best work out I’ve had since I’ve gotten here,” she said with all honesty. She really enjoyed it, it made her feel more alive, finally. “It’s one of the best things I’ve done since we had demons come to town.” She smirked a touch at the irony of her statement.
“Did I,” she paused looking for the right word, “surprise you? I’m sorry. I forget there are people who haven’t seen me as me yet and it can be a jarring visual.” Though she knew a few people preferred her that way. Or enjoyed when she was letting loose and being herself. Llew was just happy as a clam to have a place to feel comfortable enough to forget her wings. Or horns.

"I'm glad you enjoyed your workout. That's the whole point of the Danger Room," Cass replied, slightly more comfortable as she adjusted to the fact that she was speaking to a woman, possibly, who had horns and wings. Did creatures follow human gender identities? That was something she never expected to ask herself so she quickly pushed the thought away before it gave her a headache.
"You did, though it's not you exactly. I was told that there were...non-humans in Madison Valley, but I'll admit I haven't encountered one until this moment." She should have been paying closer attention to the membership photos but it was slow going to memorize them so she was doing it in batches. She just hadn't gotten to her yet. Still, Cass wasn't afraid so she held out her hand. "My name is Doctor Cassandra Railly, the resident emergency services here on premises," she introduced. "Hopefully, you won't have need of me, but I'm here just in case. It's better than waiting for an ambulance to get rushed to the clinic."

“I’m pretty impressed over all.” she said with a smile. She liked the hard work that was put into this place, and she really did hope people used it as they needed. The other places in town didn’t offer the same level of a workout and she hadn’t really enjoyed them.
“Ah. Well, running into a Reaper probably isn’t the most fun to run into - werewolves are less strange. I’m Llewellyn Cornick, I’m a trauma surgeon who just happens to be a demon.” she shook the woman’s hand, she had a strong grip, and despite her job her hands felt like they were used to work. “Hopefully I won’t need to get shuffled off to work.” she laughed a little, “Sorry, I work at the clinic.”

Cass inclined her head with a slight smile when the redhead said she was impressed with the facility. Shadow really had put in quite a lot of effort into it and to see it be used so appropriately really did make her happy, not to mention glad that she'd offered her services. She was more interested that the Reaper, as she seemed to identify as, was a trauma surgeon. That was rather fortuitous in a way because in the current arrangement, if the Danger Room was open, she was on premise.
"Do you?" she asked, her curiosity obvious as it was clear the wheels were turning in her head. "How does a demon come to be a trauma surgeon?" That seemed like an odd trajectory, but then it wasn't like she had any real awareness of what demons did, let alone ones called Reapers. Perhaps that was a logical step for someone so heavily involved with death, as the name Reaper suggested.

“My host was in the military and when I took over, we moved to work for an Emergency Room in Detroit. I needed to be in one place instead of shipped all over, so it was a necessity. “ she shrugged a bit, then smiled, a little coldly. “And it is my attempt to fix things I have broken in my time. It sort of helps balance out my original job with the job I most recently did down in Hell.”
It was complicated and she knew it. “But it’s a passion both my host and I shared, so it worked out in the end.” Llew was sure it made little sense to say it out loud, and she wasn’t offended if the woman decided to give her a look. She was happy to bury herself in the work of patching people back up instead of destroying all that she had helped make.
Wars were awful.

It wasn't the most typical story she'd ever heard in her life, but the bare bones of it was something she could understand. Whatever Llewellyn had done as a demon in hell, she was making up for it in the human world. That kind of redemption story was a familiar one, just not necessarily in real life. "That's...reasonable. I think. I'm really not all that familiar with non-human things. It seems like you might be, though."
She'd have to talk to Shadow, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. "Are you happy with your job at the clinic?" Cassandra asked thoughtfully. "I can admit to being a little out of my element if there are going to be supernatural creatures making use of the facilities. You clearly are more familiar, and you have all the necessary skills and education." It could work out rather perfectly if Llewellyn was interested and Shadow was on board.

Llew didn’t think much of it as a redemption story, but it was in the long run. Though it was far more complicated than just that. She was happy being in the middle of reclaiming her original purpose - she had been a creator, had encouraged humanity only to watch it fall apart and she slowly becoming part of the circle of life and death. Death cleared way for new life. But Heaven had gone on a rampage, and she had followed Lucifer in an attempt to get back to correctness.
It hadn’t happened and she’d become an assassin for him, hunting angels.
She was happy with that. But now she was trying to find balance again. “I do like it but there isn’t much for me to do there,” she said carefully because she did like the job, “I would be happy to help if you need someone with my knowledge, though and I am happy to help you expand your knowledge in supernatural matters too?” she offered. “I am only on call and a few pickup shifts a week, so…”
The idea of being here helping people who were more likely to need her skills wasn’t bad.

"Accidents and injuries don't happen often, but when they do, it's very much like an active ER. I could use the education when it comes to non-human patients," Cassandra said, fully aware that there would be a limited amount of time that Llewellyn would have given her responsibilities at the clinic. She still wanted the help though, and maybe Llew would like working at Combat Therapy better. At the very least, the help would be a welcome break so that she could attend her classes and continuing education.
"I'll speak to Shadow about it, if you're interested?" He'd been good about giving her the support she needed, but Cass was trying not to take advantage of it too much. That meant approaching things in a specific way, one that would be mutually beneficial for all involved. The last thing she wanted was to push her luck and ruin a good thing.
