Jonas McCullen
Name: Jonas McCullen
Nickname: N/A
Age: 27
Birthplace: New York City, NY
Sex: Male
Occupation: Drifter / Bum
Appearance: Standing at about 6'6" he's a tall fellow with brown hair and blue eyes. He's built athletically, but lanky, which helps. His features are soft and his eyes bright, making him look fairly trustworthy and kind. Because of his life on the move he's usually scruffy looking, hair longish and beard a few days old. He likes to be clean shaven and washed when he can find the resources to be, but the grime of traveling and sleeping in alleys doesn't bother him much either. His muscular frame does not hide that he's underweight, and he usually looks just a bit undernourished and underfed.
His clothes are usually nothing more than a few T Shirts, a flannel overshirt, a jean jacket, and an old, beat up leather coat, and his jeans are double layered and full of holes, some patched with random scraps of cloth, some not. He wears hiking boots and a ski cap, and carried around a tattered backpack with the battered face of Scooby-Doo on the front (he did, after all, find the bag abandoned behind an elementary school).
Personality: Extremely laid back and easy going, he gentle manner and soft voice often mask his obsession with saving number-one. He is an ally and friend of convenience, and while not overly fond or betraying or abandoning people who trust him, he'll bail if he feels that it's against his interest or health to remain. He isn't, however, a coward, just an intelligent assessor of situations. He has a weakness for children, however, especially impoverished or orphaned kids, identifying with them all too well and going beyond his usual comfort to help them out. At the same level he regards anybody with home and money with contempt, feeling no remorse whatsoever about robbing them blind.
He's not cruel, however, and never hurts anybody or damages property where he felt it can be avoided. He may have a long and colorful history as a thief, but not one charge of assault, battery, or endangerment of life has ever been (honestly) pinned on him, unless it was for a bar brawl or street-fight.
Special abilities/talents: Apt at getting into locked or sealed buildings, as well as disappearing when he feels the need to, he can move silently and swiftly, even for a man of his size and weight. He's also quite speedy for a human, able to run a five minute mile fairly steadily. He's also somewhat skilled at brawling, mostly due to his size, strength, and experience.

History: (must be at least two paragraphs) Born in New York City, Jonah was taken from his parents as a baby for reasons never revealed to him. From there he was moved from foster home to orphanage to foster home, never quite settling down or finding anyplace that he felt safe in. By the time he was fourteen he was thoroughly fed up with the system, and when he met a young woman of similar mindset. The two fell in "love" and made plans to escape the orphanage they were trapped in, doing so successfully within a few weeks. Once out on their own, however, they found the streets to be far more difficult and frightening than they expected. Together, however, they slowly adapted, learning how to forge for food and shelter from garbage cans, break into stores and disable alarms (usually by finding them and ripping them out of the wall), and escape from police.
Eventually his friend opted out of the street life, returning to the orphanage in search of another home to take her in for the last couple years before her adult life began. Taking this as yet another abandonment the young Jonah, now 16, took leave of the city and headed out to the country, hitchhiking and walking down random roads, following his whims and wherever advertised day-work without needing applications or identity.
As he continued to roam he found his way to the outskirts of Mysteria, which promises to be yet another simple rest stop, perhaps a place to escape the rest of the winter.
Flaws:
Trust Issues; due to being moved from foster home to foster home, and then an extended stay in the tough streets of the city, Jonah's faith in humanity is severely shaken. He hides the issues he has well, but takes nobody's word for anything, finding little value in promises or deals.
#1 kind of Guy; Always looks out for himself, rarely for anybody else. This makes him both predictable and unreliable, and on top of his trust issues often leaves him without friends or allies.
Compulsive Thief/Hoarder; Exactly what is says. Even if he doesn't find a use for it, doesn't know what it is, or doesn't want it, it rarely stops his hands from reaching out and snagging it. His backpack is full of trinkets and objects, some useful, like small knives, binoculars, lighters, thread, and flashlights, to useless and clutterful scraps of paper, old batteries, random metal objects, nails, and food wrappers. He finds it extremely painful to throw anything out, and will resist as long as he can before throwing even the most worthless item away. When he pickpockets you? Forget about getting the wallet back. If he takes your purse? You might find the bag on the road some yards away, but all of its contents (yes, including makeup and packs of gum) are now in his bag.
Serial Liar; Even when it's to no benefit, or becomes a detriment, Jonah's habit of lying is automatic and constant. His poor memory (or perhaps he simply doesn't care enough to remember) leads him to contradict himself often, though he's not easily swayed to admit that something's not the truth.
Merits:
Likes to Play Daddy; All of his trust issues and flaws pretty much fall through when he's dealing with little kids. The effect they have on him is enormous, though only applies to needy or abused children who are alone and under the age of ten. When he comes across these he turns into a completely different man, become protective and giving, battling his compulsions and attempting to help the children out until they can be delivered to someplace that he deems safe enough to leave them.
High Alcohol Tolerance; The man can hold his beer. And rum. And whiskey. And just about anything else that can put you into a drunken stupor. He's grown up drinking, and built a resistance to it out of love. Usually he can't afford to get himself wasted, so he's rarely out of commission due to too many drinks.
Livin' It Rough; He can survive on little food, with little or no shelter, and be happy about it. He doesn't mind smells, wildlife, or rot, and has no qualms about forging for semi-edible, semi-wearable, or useless stuff in garbage cans. Happy to pull a few newspapers over himself to sneak inside a dumpster for protection against the elements, and knows how to start a camp or bin fire out of very little. It's very hard to disgust or demoralize him.
Silver Tongue; He's charming by nature, and can usually talk himself into or out of most situations. Even when he's lying to your face he seems perfectly honest and open, and can speak sheer madness with an air of practicality and know-how. This helps him play "witness" to unsuspecting cops who arrive at the scenes of his crimes, and helps him con normally wary people out of money.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Preferred PB (played-by): Ryan Gosling
