Nickname: Other than silly names given by friends over the years, she doesn't really have any. Her own suits her.
Age: 65, but she doesn't look a day past 25, what she tells people.
Birthplace: Hope Lake, Minnesota
Sex: Female
Occupation: Doctor/Emergency Medicine
Appearance: Hope is what most people expect angels to look like. She's lovely, with delicate features and soft, dark eyes. Her hair is a pretty golden blonde that falls to her mid back, but she usually ties up to keep out of her way. She's not short, but not excessively tall either at an even 5'7".
Her wings are a pale powder blue bordering white, the feathers designed to aid her speed in flight. The marks on her back resemble tattoos on both shoulder blades, an almost tribal design, likely due to her Celtic ancestry. (Looks kind of like this though not as big)
Personality: Hope looks and even acts like you would expect a twenty five year old young woman to. She's into the new trends, listens to current music, can even play video games like a pro. She's kind and funny, having sarcasm and wit fitting of the current generation. That's the Hope everyone sees. Not that it's a lie, it's just not even close to all that she is.
She's also been on this earth over sixty years, seen the best and worst humanity has to offer. Hope has had to watch as it seemed to fall apart, then surprise her by learning from it's mistakes. Living through some of the rougher patches in history, Hope isn't a weakling in the least. In fact, for all her sweetness, she's got a temper to counter it. She doesn't rage, but she snaps and gets impatient. At the end of the day? She's still an angel.
Special abilities/talents: Give her a language, a few days to learn and Hope's fluent. It's an extension of her angelic heritage, the need to communicate with her charges, wherever they may be. Her talent for linguistics almost swayed her decision to be a doctor.
Supernatural Affinity: Species/Group: Angel/Guardian Power(s): Standard powers, limited telepathy with charges, telekinesis Level: N/A Affiliation/Rank: N/A Preferred Prey: Demons, telemarketers
History: For Hope Marie Cale, the odds of her angelic side winning out were better than most. Her father an angel of renewal and her mother the human daughter of a guardian angel, the scales were always tipped a little in divine favor.
Her father, Jacob Cale, was visiting an old friend before he left to repair the damage done to the waters of Hope Lake, Minnesota, the place she would be named for. While there, he discovered his old friend who clipped his wings had sired a daughter, Anna, who was twenty then. Their affair was brief, and Hope wasn't the product of a deep love, they knew. However she was given a deep love from both her parents and the two remained close, no matter how her father was forced to come and go.
She was born and raised in Minneapolis. There, her mother escaped any small town gossip and was free to pursue her career as a nurse. That caught her attention. She watched her mother work and found her calling in medicine, having the desire to help people no matter what.
Hope was twelve when the marks on her back began to appear. She was an angel but surprisingly not one of renewal like her father. She was a Guardian, but with no charge. He taught her what he could and what he didn't know she learned from others of her kind.
At the age of fifteen was when she discovered her ability. She was coming home from visiting her mother at the hospital and some kids were playing basketball nearby. One of them overshot the distance and it ended up in the street. The kid didn't see a truck turn the corner just as he bent down to pick it up, but Hope did. Reacting on pure instinct, she threw a hand up and the boy fell back to safety. Confused, but safe.
Having had a handful of light assignments during her life, she was finally pulled in the direction that would be her permanent charge. A family line, not just the current members, but their children's children as well. She was to protect them, make sure they didn't sway or succumb to evil. She still is unsure of who they are, but she's searching. The pull of her charges led her to Mysteria where she's taken up her job as a doctor, emergency medicine and surgery.
Flaws: Hope isn't used to taking orders and likes things done her way. This can make her kind of edgy when things happen that do not go as she wished. She doesn't like losing and isn't afraid to tell you about it at great length. Get it done right the first time or get out of the way and let her do it. She's impatient like that.
Romance isn't something she thinks about much. Between her work in medicine and her work as an angel, she's sure she'll end up getting her heart broken. So she settles for quick romances now and again. She's going to live a long time and doesn't want to do it with a broken heart.
Self blame, table for one please? She's learned over the years that she can't control everything, but once in awhile when she loses a patient or isn't there to help someone, it gets to her. Hope will fight not to let it, but that compassion turns to guilt.
Merits: Hope is the best person you can ask for in an emergency. It's part of what makes her a good doctor, she can make important decisions on her feet, keep a level head and help other people do so as well.
She's funny and has a quick wit, is so easy going when it comes to jokes, even at her expense. She's got a temper about certain things, but for the most part, she's a very cool person.
