Simon Harkness
Name: Simon Charles Harkness.
Nickname: None.
Age: 25.
Sex: Male.
Occupation: Geek Squad Agent of rank Double Agent at Best Buy.
Appearance: Simon's definitely got a flair of nerd about him. He generally can be found in his work uniform (white shirt, tie, black pants as per the Geek Squad attire code) as he's not much on swapping clothes once the work day is up -- unless it's a day off, tie, shirt, pants are all go. He has floppy, brown hair that curls up more and more as it grows out, though out of attempting to appear respectable he keeps generally short. Height-wise, he's just about average at 5'9" and there's nothing extraordinary about his build other than for being something of a game geek he isn't as pale or scrawny or... noodley as one might be for playing Halo 3 on a near-daily basis. His is a look that doesn't scream GEEK, but definitely doesn't argue the title.
Personality: An affable fellow, Simon is mostly easy to get along with. He has his self-doubt and his flaws and his inability to be coherent around women some times, but he's a good guy. A really good guy. The sort that's prone to worrying a lot about his friends and his family and putting even strangers off should he phrase something the wrong way. This most draws from how awful his luck is. In an attempt to counteract all the stuff that runs afoul in his life, he's willing to be as flexible as needed to keep his remaining good fortune safe. A bit panicky, for sure, and not the smoothest talker when he's been caught at something he oughtn't to be doing (i.e. will dig himself into very deep holes by rambling on). It's the mix of humor and tendencies to freak the heck out that give him an almost cartoonish demeanor at times. Living in Mysteria? Surely isn't a factor in helping his nerves to settle.
Special abilities/talents: While not a mechanical genius, Simon is excellent with understanding computers. He's mastered many video games, as well, even dabbling slightly in programming games on his own. He has an inventor's mindset, if only he could see it himself and give himself an honest chance to be something outside of the Geek Squad.

History: It was to a happily married, middle class couple in New Jersey that Simon was born. The younger of two children, he was raised without any major road bumps aside from the occasional fight that broke out between sister and brother and scraped knee. Life was decidedly worth enjoying and with a bright mind for school, Simon encountered no real trouble from his teachers or from the other students. He was a normal kid in a normal family with a normal upbringing getting a normal education in a normal school. And things went on in that general fashion for years. Plowing through elementary, junior high, and high school was mostly effortless... well, save for art class. Simon never really caught on to that particular sort of thing and often insisted it wasn't necessarily that he couldn't draw, but that he was an abstract artist. Top grades, honors, the works -- everything was looking great for a future in an Ivy-league college.
And so Simon did get a full ride scholarship upon graduation of high school. He set out to New York City, starting in as a computer engineering major at Columbia University. Things continued to roll on well enough and he was still earning respectable marks in his courses, but all things tend to come to a halt sooner or later. For Simon, he was on the brink of graduating -- one semester off from earning his bachelor's -- but things fell through. His roommate started the celebrations early and their apartment was quickly flooded with all the party-goers that could fit. Things took a sharp turn into chaos and before Simon could sneak out the back door for being nothing of a partying sort himself, the police cracked down. As it went, panic set things off badly and intoxication by several attendees helped little. The scene turned into a mess and being responsible by a bad strand of luck of being a partial owner of the apartment and being present while a few unsavory things were afoot, Simon had little excuse against the verdict. He managed to get off relatively unscathed by the law, but the school caught wind of the usurpation and immediately retracted his scholarship for the final semester, placing him on probation. Having no money left from having to pay fines for a multitude of tickets from the party, Simon couldn't afford his final semester. The landlord wouldn't have any part of continuing to rent out his apartments to a lousy lot of college kids, either. Hardly a few days later, he was on his way back home.
Back home in New Jersey, he attempted to pick himself back up, but ultimately decided that he might just leave finishing college out for another time. A few months, he needed, just to heal up. Another year it soon became. And another after that. Eventually, the whole idea faded out and having saved enough money from working locally, he figured the best choice was to change his scenery. Wearied by people in general, he set out to find a small town in the middle of nowhere and it just so happened that Mysteria, North Dakota fit that description.
Simon has only been in town for a few months, but he's settling. A job at Best Buy in the Geek Squad provides enough to afford a humble living arrangement... but he can't help but wonder some times if he made the right choice coming to Mysteria. There's something weird about the town and with such poor luck to start with, maybe it'd be a good idea to relocate again. But, that can wait. To tomorrow. Or the next month. Maybe it's just the process of familiarizing oneself to a new location.
Flaws: Simon has awful luck. He doesn't put much faith in there being an actual curse on him because that's all just tall tales, but he does recognize that in comparison to others, he seems to get the short end of the stick a whole lot more often.
Being a new face in Mysteria, Simon is alone. He has no nearby family, no friends. The most he holds claims to are his co-workers that he might steal away to have a drink with after work from time to time. The closest family he has is in Eastern New York, and that... is quite a trip.
When it comes down to it, Simon's a real softie. He lets himself be taken advantage of and even when it causes him to forfeit his free time, he'll take an extra shift at work. After having had his future ripped out from under his feet, he tends to do things above and beyond that asked just to make sure he has stability in his current position.
Strengths: Technically-minded, Simon is amazing with his science and math. He can turn out a device and resemble it, fix it, you name it. Naturally gifted in this area, he often holds no trouble with his job repairing computers.
Another of Simon's gifts is an eidetic memory. He only needs a short glance to memorize a scene or a phrase.
Lastly, he's dedicated. To his job, to his co-workers, to anyone that he's ever called a friend. He might get snagged by his bad luck, but never does he blow anyone off.
PB: Zachary Levi.
