Appearance: Quinton is a well turned out, clean shaven man. Fortunately his work hasn’t appeared to have aged him too much on the outside though. He isn’t muscled in any sense but he’s fit enough to chase down a criminal and isn’t exactly skinny. He’s about 5’9” tall. He has pale green eyes and brown hair, kept short and neat. He sometimes wears glasses, black rimmed but suited to his face, other times he may wear contacts. He uses them for driving and reading.
Clothing wise when working he wears very fine tailored suits. Usually a simple black, grey or navy blue suit. He doesn’t have many maybe five he recycles with different coloured suits and ties to give them a different look. Highly polished shoes and all ironed perfectly straight. He doesn’t wear jewellery when working but has a silver watch his Father gave him almost constantly on his wrist.
When he’s being casual, just hanging around at home or with his son he’ll wear jeans and a simple t-shirt and possibly a sweater.
He likes to keep his look up to date, so whatever trend is going on he’ll do his best to follow the fashion.
Personality: Quinton is a sweet sensitive guy and is certain he’s in the wrong job. He’s an utterly devoted father and is a huge softie when it comes to kids. He does have slight conflicting aspects to his personality though.
On one side, he’s a family man. A good friend and enjoys having fun and trying his best to relax and wind down. He’ll do his best to not talk about work and let it affect him when he’s out of the office.
However he’s a cop who obsesses about getting his ‘man’. Most of the time he actually manages it, but that’s a separate part to the shaping of his personality. He’s a good cop. Never going to be corrupted and highly respected by his peers. However he does sometimes seem troubled by his work and his job and the cases at times. He’s not snapped yet but people are waiting for his breakdown. There’s one problem though. He’ll make sure the guilty get justice, even if it’s not through the law. He’d never kill someone in cold blood, but information leaked to someone who would may occur. Or planted evidence may be needed. Only when he’s absolutely certain he’s got the right man though.
Then there’s the private part of his life. The ghosts of murdered people he’s investigating tend to not leave him alone. It’s ever more disturbing if the circumstances of the murder are horrific or the victims are particularly young. He does his best to try and remain detached but that’s quite difficult when he’s so consumed with putting a case to rest.
Special abilities/talents: He’s a good dancer and having a young son means he’s become quite a good cook and story teller. He does all the funny voices and everything.
Supernatural Affinity: Psychic Species/Group: Human Power(s): Medium--(This ability can not be chosen with a second or third one) the ability to communicate and see the spirits of the dead. Drawbacks: They know you can see and hear them and so they bug you all the time.
History: Quinton has always known he can see spirits. Ever since he was a child, though he didn’t really understand what they were until he got older. He told his father he saw people and his Father being a worrier took him to the doctors to check there was no brain tumour or something more serious going on with his son. Results all came back negative but that wouldn’t stop his father from worrying. However Quinton began to believe what he was seeing was real and that an afterlife truly existed. It took a lot of convincing but his Father eventually believed him. They chose not to tell his step-mother or step-sisters of his gifts. So he managed to balance real life and the afterlife and got through school with high grades. He was never popular but had his own circle of friends and was quite happy with the way his life had gone. He left school not knowing what he wanted to do but went to college and took maths, science and a few other courses. One night a good friend of his was murdered. Unbeknownst to him or anyone at the time the murderer was a particularly good friend of his too. It didn’t take long for the spirit of his friend to come and find him and explain what had happened and where crucial evidence was. Quinton called the police and due to his intimate knowledge of the case was treated as a suspect for some time before the DNA evidence came back and his other friend returned. He realised he had a logical and analytical mind and decided that his ‘gifts’ could actually really benefit him and the victims of murders. So he joined the police force and made his way up the ranks in a natural progression. He transferred to New York and was an instant success. However the pace and lifestyle didn’t suit him and he got a transfer to Mysteria. There he met his ex-wife. They had a couple of years happily married but when she found out he was bisexual she filed for divorce and is now in a battle with him over who has custody rights of their son. Quinton discovered she had hidden her bigoted beliefs and when she married another man just months afterwards knew she had been cheating on him too. He really doesn’t like her new husband and fears he’s violent so is desperately trying to win the court case. He’s also desperate to see if there’s anyway he can protect himself from spirits in his home, make some form of barrier just so he knows he has that personal space. He’d also be very keen to discover if there was some way of protecting his son from harm and danger as his work may put him at risk. So now he’s juggling work, being a father and trying to have some sort of a social life as well and trying to understand the supernatural too.
Flaws: Being a cop and a damned fine one means he does make enemies. Fortunately so far none of them have been utterly sadistic and threatened his family and his friends but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a baddie waiting in the wings for him. He’s had personal death threats though and one attempt on his life. He needs to look over his shoulder a lot.
He also suffers from a lot of nightmares. Knowing what he knows and doing what he does he can have quite vivid nightmares. It’s not helpful strolling in to work exhausted and knowing there’s a child to be looked after, after work. It can cause him to feel quite ill at times.
He has a phobia of being buried alive and doesn’t like the sight of coffins. They really set him on edge just looking at a coffin whether it’s really in front of him or just an image he’ll freak out.
Merits: Judicial Ties he’s perfectly placed to have good connections. He doesn’t use intimidation but he lets people think there’s some edge to him. He’s good friends with a lot of lawyers and judges so he keeps him in good stead for a lot of cases.
He also has a rather outstanding reputation and is greatly admired by a lot of people.
He has an iron will. He’ll not quit. He wont give in and when he knows that he’s right he’s almost steadfast and obsessed(well maybe not that bad) but it works wonders for him when he’s working.
