basic information Name: Abbey Tama Gill Nicknames: Tabbey, Jillian, Abbs, Kitty. Sex: Female Age: 16 Birthday: April 1st, 1993. IC IM: tabbeycat Nationality: American Sexuality: Homosexual Year: 5th House: Rakiah Type: Therian Special Ability: Red-brown-ish wolverine.
Abbey doesn't have a really good hold on her shifting abilities and while she is able to shift to and from her animal shape as she wants, it also tends to happen whenever she loses her temper, which happens quite a lot. It isn't so much that annoying her will trigger it but if angered she will shift and she will not think twice about hunting after who or what it was that pissed her off. While the shifting to her animal shape isn't something she's ever been bothered by, the shifting back is because no matter how much she tries - and she tries a lot - she can't make her clothes shift along with her and is too embarrassed to walk around in the buff after she shifts back. Thankfully, the times she's done that on accident has been few but some of her most mortifying experiences ever. The first time she ever shifted it took her more than a day to be able to come back as a person and she still struggles a bit with that part of the transformation.
appearance PB: Molly Quinn Height: 5'4" Build: Average. Eye Color: Blue Hair Color: Red
Abbey isn't one of those overly skinny, muscled or big people. She has a sort of healthy roundness to her that of course over the years has gotten her called fat even if she really isn't simply because she doesn't strain to be super thin or even really thinks twice over what she eats. Varied food and running around and playing pranks, as well as some swordplay is all the exercise she really needs and wants. Much to her parents dismay Abbey tends to slouch a bit, dragging her feet around as she walks.
She likes dressing up and has her own sense of style that perhaps doesn't always align perfectly with what the fashion magazines says but she's happy and comfortable in the way she is. Shirts, jeans, a comfortable blazer or maybe a suitjacket, some people would probably call it preppy. If it wasn't for the fact that skirts tend to fly all over the place when you bounce around she would probably never change out of her school uniform.
In many ways Abbey is still very young at heart and it shows both in her manners and her looks as when she really wants too or when she's completely oblivious of something she tends to look rather innocent and almost younger than she is. Those times she goes out of her way to try and look innocent, complete with the younger girl clothes, you can be sure she is up to something fishy. But then again, she mostly is.
personality Strengths: Patient. Friendly and social, isn't the least bit afraid of confrontation or arguments. Protective and while she might not be the most loyal around she isn't one to stand aside when someone gets picked on. Perky and happy and can always spare a smile to anyone and she absolutely loves a good prank, more than anything else. Weaknesses: Thickheaded, doesn't really think in the manner of her actions having consequences, spiteful and contrary. Has a really horrible temper once her patience runs dry and she holds grudges, forgives but never forgets, Overly curious. Weird Quirks: - Speaks with her hands A LOT. Pointing and gesturing to the point of absurdity when she gets into a really heated argument and just before shifting. - Chews on her necklace. It was a gift from one of her father's old friends and she tends to keep gnawing at the chain whenever she really gets a chance. Also she doesn't ever really take it off asides from when she absolutely must, it is one of the few things that goes with her when she shifts. Never mind the clothes, as long as she has her necklace. - Likes to eat with her fingers, as long as the food allows for it. Also tends to prefer her meat bloody and has on more than one occasion been seen just gnawing on eventual bones as she's cleaning off her plate.
Secrets - Her parents are thieves. Yes, are, not were. While both claim they have left their life of crime behind it isn't a secret within the family that those are just empty words for the bleachers. As such, Abbey and her siblings have really without trying picked up some of their skills. Taking apart and putting together over sized locks from before you could talk properly makes for a good lock pick later in life. - Despite, or perhaps because, her parent's way of life Abbey dreams of one day becoming a lawyer. She's actually a bit ashamed of this and won't admit to it freely to anyone out of fear of questions such as "Why?" and dreading to have to explain herself. - Doesn't share her fellow Therian's hostility towards Faie since part of her extended family are of that blood and is actually more disciminating towards Mundies than any of the other magical groups. - Is horribly afraid of hurting someone she loves as a result of her shifting again.
Likes: Pranks, coffee, puzzles, mind games, shiny things, bouncing around, taking photos, good natured teasing, snowball fights, meat, her family, fire crackers, girls, nature. Dislikes: Vegetables, dull people, school, birds, pitchy noises, big cities, oceans, stuck up people.
Abbey has a lot to thank her family for, but most of all her patience. With eccentric aunts and uncles all around you either develop a patience or end up constantly throwing fits, Abbey ended up doing the first and it's something she's grown to really appreciate over the years since she does tend to shift when she gets pissed off and that never ends well. Something she also has from her family is a high level of tolerance, with the group consisting of people from four out of the five magial groups (no warlocks). She considers herself very lucky for this but it's also something she's really soft hearted about. Being bigoted about this is a sureproof way of pissing her off.
Among those who do not know her too well she can be somewhat reserved at first, she's not above striking up a conversation about whatever but it takes time before she starts trusting people and actually talk about things that matter and only a few selected has really had the pleasure to meet her family. She's a really private person on that level but once someone's gotten that close she's never "letting" them get away, they can do pretty much anything to anyone and she'd let them get away with it.
Even though Abbey is a rather smart girl, she doesn't think very far ahead at times, pulling pranks left and right without really thinking that perhaps she's taking things too far. And really for someone who's so up for pranking people, she utterly HATES being pranked herself and often she does things just because people tell her no or that she can't or isn't allowed and it usually lands her in detention at least once a month.
history Family Residence: Anchorage, Alaska. Languages: English, has a basic understanding of French. Father: Dennis Gill (43), therian; Arctic Fox. Mother: Tova Gill (38), therian; European Polecat. Siblings: Robin (18) Savannah (12) and Ken (9), all three carrying the therian gene though Ken and Savannah has yet to manifest. Other Family: Non-blood related uncles and aunts, Vincent, Alfred, Jericho, Charlene, Eugene and his wife Jenny. Maternal grandparents Gina and Thom and Paternal grandmother Sarah. Doesn't have any contact with their blood-related aunts and uncles or their children.
To claim that Abbey has a wide and rather strange family would probably be one of the biggest understatements of the century and if ever asked about it she is more than likely to just grin and shake her head.
Dennis and Tova first met at Idris, many, many years ago, and in detention of all things. Neither really wants to admit what landed them there but Tova always insisted it was faith, something that gets her a fond smile from her husband. Something they both do admit to though is that is was not love at first sight and over the coming years the two got into more issues with one another than they might have wanted. Thankfully they only shared the school for one measly year before Dennis graduated and moved on in his life.
After years of back and forth meetings through friends and at occasional, random places the two were finally starting to get along before a long and rather interesting night landed them both in jail for the night, and as Tova would discover later, left her very much pregnant. She had just turned 20 when their first child was born and life wasn't easy as at the time Dennis was serving a sentence for Burglary and Theft. But thanks to their friends and Dennis "extended" family there wasn't ever anything that couldn't be dealth with and Tova found herself caught up in a life she never had expected to have.
Robin was just over a year old when Dennis was released on good behavior and just after their boy had turned 2, Abbey was born. While both Tova and Dennis were people that moved around, a lot the children ever had to spend time alone as their home was a sort of open house with people coming and going left and right. From an early age Abbey shared a lot of her mother's traits and most notibly so the lack of staying still. Always bouncing and playing around, walking before she crawled and by the time her younger sister was born she was already reading.
After Savannah was born Tova started staying a home a bit more, mostly so because it appeared their, or in this case mostly Dennis friends were having some, interesting influences on her children. In Abbey's case mostly Charlene and Eugene that seemed to do all they could to bring out the best in her, or worst some would say and she's still to this day very much likely to lay blame on either of them for ending up as she did.
During her first years of school Abbey was far more interested in playing than listening to the teachers and paying attention in class and ever since she first set her foot in a classroom she's always been one of those the teachers looked sort of crooked on, wondering when they would blow up or, heaven forbid what horrors they were plotting if they ever sat still and quiet. After having noted this there really never was any stopping her, while she did her homeworks and did fairly well on her tests Abbey also had a very bad reputation as a troublemaker, hey at least she kept her classmates entertained with her antics even if it did land her in detention more times than she wished.
Noting that she was being so distracted at school was something that started worrying her parents though they had never expected help to come from the mst quiet and withdrawn of their friends. Abbey had always been facinated by Vincent's sword skills but her parents had always shut it down as she's tried to tell them she wanted a sword too, her facination for it was what would come to keep her out of many, many hours of detention. As her uncle promised to train her if she started cleaning up her act, and she did.
At age 11, Abbey shifted for the first time. She had been at home, arguing with her mother and getting fed off stormed off only to run into Albert who in his ways tried to cheer her up but only ended up pissing her off more and before she really knew what had happened there was the taste of blood in her mouth and her beloved uncle was on the ground with a crushed leg. Of course she'd been aware that this would probably happen, the shift (not the injuring family part) that was it still scared her and the small wolverine trudged off to hide under a bed.
While it didn't take long for the rest of the family to realize what had happened or to find her it did take over a day to coax her into shifting back and when she finally managed she was shaking and crying. It took her a week to get to grips with what had happened and she spent days apologizing to her uncle, she still feels horribly bad about what she did and will slump and look pityful whenever anyone mentions it.
The following autumn she got her letter from Idris and happily accepted, the only regret she was having being that she wouldn't get to spend time with her family so much, but on the upside, she would finally be able to learn to control her shifts even better.

Writing Samples First person journal entry I am Pink! PINK! There are PINK blotches all over my face. NEON PINK. When I find out who did this, you better sleep with one eye open because I am SO getting back at you, just you wait!
[Private to self] Ants, or maybe piles and piles of itching powder, or maggots in the underwear drawer, honey in the shampoo? Ooooh, I'll get them, I don't care who it is, I'll get them and they'll be sorry.
Maybe Eugene will know some good ways of getting back because I can't think straight. Damn exams, I need more detentions so I can study in peace! D: [/Private]
WHY WON'T THE PINK COME OFF! I DON'T WANT TO DO MY EXAMS IN PINK!! it doesn't match my hair.
Third person RP sample You've heard the saying 'Curiosity killed the cat' haven't you, well Abbey wasn't very catty nor was she ever all that good at listening to wisdoms that passed through lines or just old wise sayings, besides she was still very much alive and if her curiosity hadn't killed her yet, it probably wouldn't. At least so she reasoned when she curled up on bed and peered curiously at the box, the tag just said 'From: Anonymous' and the heart... nope, didn't work as much of a clue. But who would... Hey it was pretty at least and well, she wasn't one to keep her curiosity under wraps so leaning closer she opened the top box, and instantly regretted it.
The dye exploding all over her face made her jerk back, flailing her arms and shoving the suddenly very offensive box away from her. Scrambling to get away from it Abbey didn't think twice about moving back, well not until there suddenly was no more bed to crawl over and throwing her arms up in the air, flailing wildly and grabbing at anything she could reach to keep her from, rather fruitlessly it must be added, falling on her ass, knocking the back of her head against the wall below the window.
"Ouch." Now that had been a nasty surprise and sitting there on the floor Abbey swiped at her face with her hands trying to rub away the dye and only managing to smearing it further and adding some of it to her hands as well. "Not a good way to start the day." Groaning loudly she scrambled up on her feet and throwing the offensive box a glare wandered into the bathroom to clean up.
The bright pink dye all over her face caused a spark of panic to rise and diving for the sink she started scurbbing at her face and hands. The panic slowly rising as it was becoming more and more evident that the dye would not go away and slamming her hands down on the sink she stared at herself in the mirror, skin raw and tender and PINK, and she promptly let loose a loud shrill scream. This was SO the worst start of a day ever!
