Two things!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Two quick things:

1) If you have registered for an account at the Snupin Santa Fest archive, and you want to receive review notifications for your Snupin Santa stories/art, all you have to do is log in, go to "Account Info" (the link will be in the light green bar at the top of the page), and then go to "Edit Preferences". Once you're on the "edit preferences" page, click the box next to "Contact for new reviews", scroll down, and click "submit". After that, you'll receive notification for new feedback to the email address you used when you registered.

2) I'm extending the deadline for uploading stories from 2005/2006 until January 31. If you're an artist, you just need to register for an account and let me know what your user name is so I can create a post for you because all 2005/2006 art is already uploaded to the site.

If you're a writer who participated in Snupin Santa 2005/2006, however, and you're still in the ship and are in fact reading this post right now and you haven't uploaded your stories, PLEASE do so before January 31.

Because I will be very cross with anyone who takes advantage of me by waiting until I've uploaded their stories and then asking me to flip the posts to their account, thus letting me do all their work for them after I've just finished busting my butt with almost 100 participants and gifts for Snupin Santa 2007. That is Not Cool, people. (ETA: And I'll also tell you, "I'm sorry, but I gave you two opportunities and plenty of time to do it along with an explanation of how to do it, so I'm not taking requests to switch posts to your account".)

But McKay, you might protest, I'm not a slacker! I just don't know how to upload my story to the site!

Well, never fear. I've written up a lengthy and detailed description of how to register AND how to upload a story, and it's right here on the site's Help page. You can follow that guide, and it will walk you through the process step by step and click by click.

So there you go.

On January 31, I will close the site to outside submissions (meaning from anyone other than an administrator), and the site will remain closed until I've finished uploading all the rest of the 2005/2006 gifts. Since I'll be working on it on my own time, I have no idea how long it will take, and I'm not going to set any deadlines, but the fewer gifts I have to upload myself, the sooner the site will be opened up so you can edit your stories and art again.

Last Call!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
All right, I've gone through the 2007 fest entries on the site and switched the accounts from "Snupin Santa" to the authors/artists I recognized. Please check and make certain I've switched your story/art to the correct account!

I need to hear from the following people regarding whether...

~ they want to keep their story/art hosted by the Snupin Santa account (in which case, I'll edit their name into the post)

~ they want to create an account so that I can switch the gift to their account (in which case they need to do so asap)

~ or they have an account that I couldn't readily identify as being them (in which case, they need to tell me what it is).

Snupin Santa 2007 Master List

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Here it is - the master list of gifts posted in the [info]snupin_santa 2007 fest! All gifts are listed in the order in which they were posted.

Please don't forget to upload your stories and send in your art to the Moonshadow archive! Everyone is invited to house their stories or art (and any other RL/SS stories or art they might have) at the archive.

Gifts marked with an asterisk were included in the "Hot Rec/Hot Art" section of the [info]dailysnitch.

The general stats are at the bottom of the post.

Snupin Santa 2006 Masterlist and Stats )

ATTENTION 2005-2007 PARTICIPANTS:

Now that the master list is up, I'm going to work on switching the gifts to the creator's account. I'm not sure how long it will take, but I'll let everyone know when I'm finished. In addition to being able to edit your stories/art at the site, you'll receive comment notifications for new feedback if you've turned on that option for your account, and you'll be able to respond to feedback left in response to the story/art.

Once that's finished, I'm taking a roughly two week hiatus from fandom organizational activity, and during that time, the fest site will be opened up to submissions again.

What that means is, you'll be able to add stories from 2005/2006, and you'll be able to edit all of your stories/art. After January 21, I'm going to close the site again so that I can upload remaining stories/art from 2005 and 2006 to complete the fest archive.

But McKay, you might ask, why do you have to close the archive so that we can't edit our posts while you do that? Because I don't want a straggler coming along and uploading something from 2005/2006 and then I end up uploading it again myself without realizing it (no, I don't get notifications when something has been added).

Also, please don't be a slack-ass and let me upload your 2005/2006 stuff for you and then ask me to flip it to your account once it's up. I'm doing this on my free time which I have precious little of, and taking advantage like that is Not Cool.

At any rate, rest assured that once all the gifts from 2005/2006 have been uploaded to the site, the site will be opened back up so that everyone can edit their posts to their heart's content (until December 2008, assuming there's the possibility of Snupin Santa being held again, which is still very much up in the air).

Just as a FYI, I've taken measures to block the Snupin Santa fest site from being harvested by web crawlers, so it won't come up in Google and other searches. That gives an extra measure of safety in addition to the age warnings in case anyone was concerned.

Also, if you have not said thank you for your gift(s) yet, PLEASE DO SO. Someone did their best to create something, and it deserves to be acknowledged in some way, even if it's just "Thank you, I appreciate the effort you made for me".

Thanks again to all participants, pinch hitters, readers, reccers, and commenters! Snupin Santa 2007 produced some wonderful stories and art, and I'm proud that it was a successful fest this year, especially in the wake of DH. I think we've shown our ship is alive and well!

Mod Post: Celebrating Snape, Snupin_Santa notes, Trading Places!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Happy New Year! I hope you're all having a fabulous 2008 so far! We start our year off with a quickie challenge:

Celebrate Snape!

That's right, our beloved Potions master turns 48 this year, and in his honor, we're having a free-for-all on his birthday, January 9! So, prepare your tributes for posting on the 9th. Anything goes - drabbles, fic, art, sketches, themed lists, reviews, essays, photomanips, colourbars, discussion - if you can think of it, post it! And if you happen to pair Snape with a certain younger werewolf, all the better!

If you have any questions or needs, feel free to ask, but Celebrating Snape should come naturally to us. See you on the 9th!

In other news, the [info]snupin_santa reveal is in a couple days, but until then, there's icons here for the participants. Check them out! And until the reveal, you can try your hand at the Guessing Polls.

And finally, if you spend the month catching up with the exchange, don't forget to leave a note for the participants. Feedback definitely dropped off after the first week, but it's never too late to let a creator know you viewed her work.

Remember when I talked about finding your three fics or pieces of art you'd like art/stories for? My next posts (later today) are going to be sign-up posts for our Trading Places challenge!

Artists are always hoping they will inspire someone to write fic based on their art, and writers are hoping an artist will be inspired to draw something their stories, so we're making a challenge out of it. Choose your three pieces of art or three stories for which you'd like to receive embellishment. There will be a separate sign-up post for art and a post for stories.

I ask that there be no extra "chatter" on the sign-up posts, because that's where claiming will eventually happen. If you want to discuss anything, feel free to come back here and post a link to the sign-up reply you're discussing.

You can choose any three Snape/Lupin pieces you wish of any length or type, but you may only offer one threesome in the three pieces you sign up with. Sign-ups will be open until next Friday, January 11. At midnight EST on January 12, claiming may begin, there's no need to wait for me to open it up. Writers will be asked to write a minimum of 500 words for one art piece if they sign-up with stories, but artists may do sketch-quality work and claim two pieces at a time. This is because we have many more artists than writers here.

If you sign up by offering links to your work, you will be expected to return the favour by then making a claim to create. I think 500 words (5 drabbles!) and at least one sketch or drawable should be easy enough for many to try. You don't have to offer links (sign-up) to make claims, but if I find we don't have many art links or story links, I will come begging. Don't make me beg, ok, because then I'll have to break out the blinky eyes. *g*

If any of this is clear as mud, please ask your questions here, that's part of the reason I'm delaying putting up the sign-up posts until later today. If you spot a big flaw in this plan, or have questions, please, let me know!

Posts are up! Sign-ups for Art || Sign-ups for Fiction

That's all for now. Thanks to all the members for making this a super community! I'll be back later today with sign-up posts, and later this week with a new non-secret project and, hopefully, the State of the Snupin! OOO la la! ~_^

Icons for all [info]snupin_santa participants

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

This is it - the very last post for [info]snupin_santa 2007! To everyone who participated - whether you initially signed up or volunteered to pinch hit - a sincere thank you for your time and effort to make this fest a successful one.

We have one last gift, which is a set of icons for the exclusive use of [info]snupin_santa participants, pinch hitters included. If you did not participate in [info]snupin_santa, you may not use these icons! As with last year's batch, these are for participants only.

Participants, feel free to take and use as many as you like, and please credit the artists in your key words, as they generously gave of their time and effort to create the icon art this year. Artists listed here, please feel free to post your ICON art now. We'd love to see the full sizes on [info]lupin_snape, but be sure to note that only [info]snupin_santa participants can make icons from it.

One last note: Please don't forget to vote in the Guessing polls, (extra one here) because January 5 is the big reveal date!

on to the icons! )

Update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
As mentioned previously, there's an addition to the last gift posted: Too Much of a Good Thing/A Sort of Fairy Tale.

For some reason, I can't add a new poll to the Snupin Santa Poll post, so I'll add the new item here separately.

Poll #777
Open to: All, results viewable to: All

A Sort of Fairy Tale

Okay, that should be it until January 5, and I'm shortly heading out for the day, so have fun catching up and guessing!

Snupin Santa Guessing Poll

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
That's it! The last gift in Snupin Santa 2007 has been posted! Thanks to everyone who has written, drawn, beta-read, brain-stormed, recced, and/or commented; your contributions as participants and supporters have made the fest a successful one, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. :)

The reveal will occur on January 5, but until then, you've still got time to read, view, comment, catch up - and guess who created what. I've created a poll to include every gift that was posted this year, so take your best guess! I've set the polls so you can see what other people have guessed, but I encourage you to leave your own guess first and don't let other people's guesses influence you, because hey - they might be wrong. ;)

If you need a refresher, you can find all the Snupin Santa gifts HERE listed in the same order as they appear in the poll.

On January 5, I'll post the master list, which will include who created what for whom. After that, I'll begin switching accounts on the website from the Snupin Santa account to the creator's account. If you want your gift switched to your account, please be sure to register at the site before January 5! Also, if your user name at the site is not readily identifiable as you, you need to let me know so I can switch the story/art to the proper account.

This will be the last reminder that if you have recced any Snupin Santa fest gifts, I'm still collecting them HERE. You have until the big reveal on January 5 to get your recs in; after that, I won't be keeping up any longer.

We've had several fest pieces qualify for the newsletter's Hot Rec/Hot Art section, and for those of you who might not be familiar with it, the Snitch (LJ here, IJ here) is a general HP fandom newsletter with a readership of over 5200 on Livejournal, which means your recs have brought the fest and our writers/artists to a much wider audience. Public service announcement

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
In the case of gifts that are stories based on art or art based on stories, if the secret santa provides me with a link to the original work, I'll include it. EFiction doesn't allow imbedded hyperlinks, but I can - and have - posted the URL in the notes so that people can c/p it for themselves.

When a link is not provided, however, then if a reader/viewer is curious to read/see the original work, they are welcome to find it via one of the following means:

1) searching by author/artist name or story/art title on Moonshadow
2) checking the memories and/or tags at the author/artist's Livejournal
3) checking the memories and/or tags at the author/artist's Insanejournal
4) checking the author/artist's profile at Livejournal and/or Insanejournal to see if they have their own website
5) checking the author/artist's LJ/IJ sidebar to see if they have links to their site or archives where they post

and if all of the above fails,

6) go to the author/artist's Livejournal or Insanejournal and leave them a comment, asking where the work in question can be found.

Please do not ask me to track down links for your convenience. Not to sound rude, but this has happened more than once, and running the fest is time-consuming enough without an additional task that someone else could easily manage themselves.

If you are an author/artist who wrote/drew something based on someone else's work and did not include the URL of the original work, you will be able to edit in the URL in your gift post on the Snupin Santa website after the reveal when I transfer the gift to your account there.

Which reminds me: if you want your story/art switched to your account at the fest site so it will be under your editorial control, but your user name at the site is not clearly connected to your LJ/IJ user name so that I might not be able to easily identify you as you, please email me at snupin_santa @ yahoo.com to let me know both your user name on the site and your LJ/IJ user name so I'll be certain to transfer the story/art to the right person.

Art: "Dreaming", for purplefluffycat

Fic: "Waiting for the Answer", for little_iago

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Waiting for the Answer, for [info]little_iago
Rated: NC17
Summary: Summer Term, 1978--Everyone thinks Lupin is the good boy, but what his friends don't realize is that when the lights go down, Lupin is a complete Gryffinwhore…until Snape discovers his double life. Despite his initial animosity towards Lupin, he becomes more and more vexed as to why Lupin has slept with half of Hogwarts but hasn't approached him yet.
Warnings: Lots of sex
Other pairings: Remus/Regulus, Severus/Regulus
Word count: ~19,000
Notes: I had the best set of betas ever for this fic. They gave lots of hand-holding, funny remarks, and made me write a few thousand more words when I lost my nerve. Good betas, they are more precious than gold.
