Feeding time at the... (274) Very mild food porn
Severus hated his job. Without fail the table manners of some of his charges were appetite suppressing. The youngest male Weasley’s tendency to somehow talk and stuff his face at the same time was especially stomach turning. Hopefully once he was old enough to care what a special lad or lady thought of his behavior he would shape up, but as he was currently a thirteen year old boy Severus wasn’t holding his breath.
Luckily, he was currently distracted by the eating habits of someone much closer to him. Remus John Lupin had decided that sitting next to him was the best way to capture his attention. Unfortunately, Lupin wasn’t wrong, though Severus went out of his way to make it seem like he was, just to spite him. It seemed to be back-firing on him though as Lupin responded by being more outrageous to draw his eyes.
Remus was substantially more subtle than the children ever were when attempting to seduce another, but that was clearly what he was doing. He made quiet sounds of pleasure regularly as he ate from the delightful spread the elves had provided. He never did anything as gauche as fellate a banana, but he did suck on his utensils and his fingers and frequently hummed in a pleased fashion while doing so. It was utterly maddening.
It was also clearly aimed at him as the smug werewolf had flirted shamelessly with him since he had arrived and now shot glances at him as he teased. It was absolutely intolerable and completely inappropriate. Maybe he wouldn’t send Remus packing next time he offered though, the humming looked promising...
Hidden Beauty (223) A bit emotional, but not angsty
People see so little of each other, yet they judge harshly. Neither Severus or Remus are “beautiful people”, they are middle aged, war-weary men. In no way physically remarkable and the uncharitable would go so far as to call them homely. They might even be right, but neither sees the other that way.
Remus sees a strong, graceful, intelligent man who fought harder and longer than anyone else will ever know to save a world that despised him. He sees a man who stays up all night with him when the moon is full, stroking his ruff absentmindedly as he reads aloud from what ever he has to hand, the cadence of his voice and the regular strokes lulling him to sleep, warm and loved.
Severus sees the only person who believed in him after Dumbledore died. He sees a fellow outcast who understands his own loneliness even if he copes with it differently. He sees the man who bends with the pressures of life, yet never broke under the weight that would have destroyed another. He sees the one who holds him when the nightmares tear him to pieces without complaint, soothing him with both word and deed until he relaxes back into Morpheus’ arms.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to each other they are beautiful.
"nothing that short should look that smug" (242) Unrepentant fluff
Severus is frequently a smug bastard. He knows and embraces this fact without shame. That said there are limits and as far as he is concerned nothing that short should look that smug. Ever. How the tiny bundle of fur in front of him manages to look more smug than he does at his worst when he is so much larger than it defies understanding.
What is worse, the smug little kitten is snuggled up on his werewolf’s chest, purring up a storm. He should be livid, Severus Snape has never been big on sharing, yet he can’t quite manage to be suitably jealous of the tiny black tuxedo kitten with the startling blue eyes Remus found during the last full moon.
He keeps remembering how pathetic it looked, covered in mud, shivering from the cold and hanging from the jaws of Remus in his wolf-form. The hopeful look Remus was sporting at the time had completed the picture of awkward cuteness and resulted in the temporary insanity that had lead to Severus agreeing they could keep the kitten.
Since Remus is asleep, no doubt tired from his change and soothed by the kitten’s purring warmth Severus feels safe approaching to gently scratch under the kitten’s chin. A mere minute before he would have sworn that the kitten couldn’t have looked more smug if it tried. Apparently this was one of the rare cases where he was wrong.
