Recovery (G):
After the war everyone went to ground for a time to lick their wounds. By Fall the streets were filled again as everyone got on with life. Shops business boomed as people could finally allow themselves to sweat the small stuff like whether or not their towels and bathmats matched. Energy that had previously devoted to survival in an uncertain time was now spent trying new things. Stores opened in droves and people flocked to them.
Yet for some though everything was different, one thing in particular, was as it had always been. As had always been the case, Severus was alone. He was pardoned and tentatively respected, but no one really wanted to be confronted with him, he blatantly broke their worn in stereotypes too much for comfort. A Slytherin hero? No such thing!
Still, Severus was doing well with his apothecary, apparently the public’s discomfort with him as a person didn’t stretch to the services he could provide. One day, after a lunar eclipse, a certain werewolf showed up in his shop with an apologetic smile and a handful of a rare fungi Severus had been trying to track down for months. It wasn’t enough to fix everything between them, but it was the first step on the road to recovery.
Synergy (G):
“Unsettling” they said, “two separate creatures should not be able to think and act in such perfect unison.” First the gossips claimed Severus had created a potion that linked their minds, allowing them to work together as professional dancers could only dream. Then Mind magic was given the credit.
Severus and Remus just looked at each other and smiled, Remus openly and Severus with a mere twitch of the left corner of his mouth upwards. They were the best at their jobs, hired by prestigious families and even the Ministry to set up defensive wards.
Let the world talk about their inexplicable ability to work as a team, they knew they required no such cheat. Working with one’s lover had a certain advantage, being so in tune with each other allowed them to chant in perfect unison, weaving their magic together like a rope into their wards. They were stronger than the sum of their parts in both work and life.
Bottom!Snape (R for implied sex):
Remus didn’t know what to expect when he finally got his wily Slytherin in bed, but it wasn’t quite how he imagined it…
“Damn it Remus harder! Your hips aren’t supposed to shake hands with my arse, they are supposed to smack it!”
“Merlin, yes right there! Don’t you dare lose that spot!”
“Buggering hell Remus! Can’t you follow a simple order? What part of ‘fuck me blind’ was unclear? Don’t slow down!”
“Just a bit to the left, I’m almost… groan yes! Right there, just like that!”
When it was over Remus was a bit surprised, but glad when he earned a sleepy and sated smile from his lover despite the protests and orders from earlier. Maybe having clear dos and don’ts during sex would be a good thing in the long run, it did seem to result in a highly pleasurable experience for both of them. Not to mention the not inconsequential benefit of insuring a happy and satisfied Severus every time…
Saying Goodbye (G, warning for major canon character death):
If Remus had known he wouldn’t ever see Severus again after the war there are so many things he would have said. He would have told him how devastated he was when he believed, however briefly, that Severus had turned on them. How he realized with the power of hindsight that he’d carried a torch for him for years. How he wanted to at least let Severus know in the no doubt futile hope that Severus would be willing to forgive him and permit him a chance to prove himself and his feelings. But really what Remus wanted most, he thought as he watched Severus’ coffin be lowered into the ground with moist eyes, was a chance to have said goodbye.
