FICLET: Persuasion (PG-13)
Title: Persuasion
Author: bluestocking79
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 253
Summary: It’s hard to convince a crabby Severus to participate, but luckily, Remus is up to the challenge.
Warning: Mpreg.
Notes: Well, here goes my first attempt at Mpreg! Evidently, I really will try anything at least once. This was originally written for snape100’s “Family Gatherings” prompt, but it grew into something more like a ficlet than a drabble, so I thought it made more sense to post it here. Enjoy!
Severus crossed his arms above his burgeoning belly. “I won’t go in there. You can’t make me.”
“Severus, please be reasonable.” Remus offered pleading puppy dog eyes.
Damn him. That was the expression that had got them into this entire mess in the first place.
“I don’t feel well,” Severus protested, nearly desperate enough to whine.
It wasn’t a lie; his daughter was beating his bladder like a bludger and his stomach was cramping with nervousness. He peeked at the company in the kitchen and swallowed a wave of nausea.
He wanted to crawl back to bed and hide under the covers until the holidays were over.
“Severus, you promised--”
“Bugger promises!”
Remus growled. “You promised you’d do this for me. I’m not asking for the impossible.”
“You bloody well are. Have you any idea what you’re dealing with?”
“You were a spy for twenty years, you survived Voldemort and Nagini—yet you’re telling me that you’re afraid to face your own mother?”
“And yours.”
“And mine. Severus, they can’t be as bad as Voldemort.”
“They’re worse.” Severus shuddered. “Why did you insist on having this daft ‘Family Christmas’?”
“It’s the first Christmas for our whole family together.”
“It isn’t! We were married last Christmas--”
Remus placed a protective hand on the swell of Severus’ belly. “Our whole family.” The hand rubbed gently, soothing both Severus and the child within. “I’ll make it worth your while, you know. Please?”
Severus sighed, righteous anger extinguished. Remus always knew how to get his way.
