Under the cut-tag is detailed information on our proposed 2010 print calendar, which includes links to our previous calendar projects, in case you're interested.
If you are an artist and would like to participate in this project, I will be organizing it through the InsaneJournal snupin community. That is a closed community for participating artists only. Please don't sign up for the community unless you intend to participate in the calendar project. I will also be putting some notices on the LiveJournal Snupin_Art community. If you feel strongly that you can't participate on IJ, please reply to this post and we'll organize through email.
Project Intent: To have at least 12 pieces for a print-worthy 2010 calendar (see our previous version here). I know it's a busy time of year for everyone, but the deadline will be Sunday, December 13, hard.
I'm giving this up-front so that everyone will be aware of the challenge of being a part of the project. The deadline falls right in the middle of a ton of fest deadlines, but we can't afford to string out extensions for this. We're going to need all the time we can get to put the calendar together for a January 2010 debut.
If we have between 12 and 15 artists signed up, I'll ask 3 artists to do general images that can stand in for any drop-outs. Extra pieces will be covers/full-year calendars. If we have more, we'll do two versions of the calendar so everyone can get in. If we have more than 24 (faint), we'll just have two calendars and I'll have to make some hard choices. The final product intent is to have a working download of a full 8.5 x 11 calendar and then single months for download as well. If I get layout help who knows European standards, we'll try to make European sizes as well.
*********************************** Specs: Please pay close attention to the specs and ask for help if you don't understand them. We'll try to help each other with these things, yes? ^_^
Format: Colour or Black and White Dimensions: 10.5 inches wide, 8 inches tall Color Mode: CMYK Colour Image Resolution: 300 DPI (dots per inch) or higher File Type: .TIF
These choices can also be made when scanning.
*********************************** Deadlines and other details: Who gets what month - A post will appear in the closed Snupin community.
.TIF files can turn out very large. If your file is more then 20MB, you might need to upload it to a web site or large file service like YouSendIt or SaveFile or Megaupload.
Send all images or image links to: lupinsnape@gmail.com
What kind of image should I make: Anything goes up to PG13 (keep the bits hidden). We had some racy images in the last calendar that were still PG13, so you can still make something sexy if you like. You don't have to make an image that goes with your month, but you can if you wish. You should check out the last print calendar and the desktop calendar to keep from repeating image ideas.
Do I have to post previews of my art on the closed community? - No, you don't have to, but this community is closed for a reason. If you want to share, get some help, or give others an idea of where you're going so there's not a similar image, feel free!
What's the deadline again? - December 13. I can't let this project string out very far, as I might be relying on someone else to help with the layout. It's not a great time of year for some people in terms of time, so I am trying to walk the line between giving you all enough time to create something gorgeous against giving a helper a fair chance to do the layout in time for January as well.
*********************************** Sounds good! how do I sign up?: Reply to this post saying you want to participate, and then make a join request at both the Snupin on IJ and Snupin_Art on LJ communities, when possible. If you're already there, great, but still reply to this post so I know you're in and be sure to visit the sign-up post to get a month assignment. I'll probably assign months on Wednesday, October 14 if we have enough participants to make a go of it.
If you're seeing this and want to encourage your favourite artists to participate, you might point them toward this post.
Questions? Answers? Ask away! And thank you for joining the project!
