DOUBLE DRABBLE: Nineteen, in New Orleans
Title: Nineteen, in New Orleans
Author: bronze_ribbons
Characters: Victoire; reference to Snape/Lupin/Tonks
Rating: G
Summary: When Victoire is nineteen, she takes a trip of her own.
Note: For karasu_hime, for for old times' sake.
Victoire Weasley loved New Orleans as soon as she set foot in it: The French words sprinkled across its maps and through its conversations like powdered sugar. The drag queens at the Friendly, every bit as haughty and doting as maman. The artists in Jackson Square, their hair in all the neon colors of a candy rainbow, their folding chairs doubling as easels and their wares strapped to the rails of iron fences.
Victoire was startled when a pink-haired portrait painter placed a hand on her arm, until she saw that the woman's portraits were all of an older male couple -- one with lank black hair, the other with a grey-brown mop. There was a wealth of both raunchier and sleazier fare on display around them, and the artist herself had the saucy air of someone who made sure she started out every day with some act of wickedness or supreme salaciousness.
The woman's smile was oddly gentle, however, as she said to Victoire, "Which one do you like best? Oh, that's a good one. Yes, I want you to take it to your mother. I told her that none of us were going to be any good at writing."
