Okay, questions: 1. Efiction works great for snupin santa, so that seems reasonable and like it would work well. I agree with everyone so far that having the art in the text is preferable to clicking away to it, if that is possible. 2. Length- I don't have a huge opinion on this one. 40k as an already established number is great, but the idea of getting a few more participants by having a lower goal option as well is attractive. I'm not so much help there. I'd support pretty much any goal length. 3. Subject areas- Maybe people have to state a time period that they are focusing on in their fic? I agree with the above thought that if they are all "start of relationship" fics, we may limit some great creativity, and it might feel redundant. I think it depends to the goal of this project. If it is simply to get some great, longer Snupin work written, then I think the less rules the better, so more people want to be involved? Maybe? 4. I vote for sign-ups, if nothing else for your and any other volunteers sanity, so you know what's coming...this would be a mellow thing with no big hubbub if someone has to stop during drafting (sort of like LMOM in that you can give it a try, but everyone understands if you don't make it to the end- hopefully the only people affected if you have to stop mid-draft would be the author and perhaps a beta or two). However, once the official "draft" is submitted and given to artists, you have to finish it and follow through. I also vote for a shorter timeline, like 3 months, for the first draft that would go to the artists, then another month for art creation and final edit? I'm thinking about several things, including my own fine tendency towards procrastination (so might as well make a tight timeline) and also other upcoming events (LMOM springs to mind)...could we be finished with writing and art in late April? Hmm...maybe I'm being crazy. If you officially kick this off after the 10th, then I'd have the fic first draft deadline in mid-April I guess, with art and final draft a month later (mid-May) and then another, what, few weeks to get it all settled at the site? Maybe it could go live around the start of June? This is my hypothetical, perfect world scenario. I'd flex into whatever timeline you give me, m'dear! 5. Art- Somewhere I was poking around recently I saw an artist refer to the fact that she was assigned a particular scene to illustrate for BB, with no other choices, and that that was incredibly difficult. I'm sure artists have more thoughts on this than me, but I liked the idea that the author would maybe point to a few scenes that could be illustrated, but the artists could also have choice?
I totally second the idea mentioned above that a volunteer "mod" could be put in charge of coordinating each project, with you as the general overlord of all, bwahahahahaa!
Also, I like the Pages and Pixels idea! Perhaps that is all that a person needs to state to sign up- if they are writing canon-based or not and a time period and they're off!! Hmmm...
*rifles through ideas, ponders* I'm super excited about this, lore, as you know. :)
