Chat is on!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I'm in chat early. There's a link on both IJ and LJ's sidebars that will help you get in.

Our focus today will be brainstorming [info]snupin_santa prompts for yourself and for giving away to the community, but all things Snupin will be on-topic today. I am in and out all day, so come in early or late, someone will be there to greet you.

ETA: 8:30 pm EST and we're still in there!

rec: ff.net stories and one old story in LJ PW

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I've read a lot of wonderful stories over the years in this community, but I suck at keeping bookmarks, so I'm going back to old, old fics that I found in ff.net. As far as I know, these three stories are only archived there.

1) A Match with the Moon by Lady Jaida.
Poetry and Snupin; it's one of the best short Snupin stories I've ever read. The best part, I think, of this fic is the pieces of poetry the author has chosen for this unorthodox courtship. Severus is completely self-assured and had this dry sense of humor that just cracks me up. Remus, on the other hand, is outwardly plain but with hidden depths. I always share it with Snupin newbies and I think it hasn't failed to drag more people into the ship. This story was posted in 2002.

2) Home's the Farthest Way by ReeraTheRed.
(Post-2nd war) This is quite different from the usual Snupin in that Remus is turned into a real woman. It's a little disconcerting to read Remus as a 'she' but this gives the reader the sense of unreality that Remus must be feeling. The author provides an interesting insight on how human male and female go about responding to mutual physical attraction. The last chapter is an absolute gem that I keep reading over and over again. The prequel of this story is also a worthwhile read.

3)Salvage What You Can and Softly Whispering I Love You by Snape's Nightie.
(Post 2nd war) The first story deals with the mysterious death of Lucius Malfoy in Azkaban and Severus Snape being the main suspect. This describes the start of Severus and Remus' relationship. The second story continues on their relationship until the end of their lives. It's a long read, but both characters are nicely fleshed out, along with interesting minor characters. The first story does not completely solve the mystery, but wrap up in the second part is worth waiting for.

This last rec is a locked post in the Pervy Werewolf in LJ. I think community membership is open to everyone.

4) Temporary by florahart.
This, I think, was the one short story that convinced me to join the Snape/Lupin (and Pervy Werewolf) community back in 2004. It has one of the best imagery in Snupin that I've read. Remus' search for that something that would give him or his life meaning is deeply touching and, I think, resonates with everyone. It's greatly satisfying how his patience was rewarded in the end.
