When Severus finished his classes for the day, he strode down the corridor and rapped on the door to Lupin’s rooms. A weak voice called, “Come in.”
Remus was burrowed on his sofa under a tatty wool blanket. His skin was a pasty white and his eyes were dull as he looked up. A mountain of used tissues teetered on the sofa next to his head.
“What is wrong with you?” asked Severus, crossing his arms in the doorway.
“Sick,” murmured Remus. “Feel like shite.”
“What do you expect me to do about it?” Severus’s lips pursed into a thin line.
“Nothing, Severus. I don’t need anything.” Remus rolled onto his side and a small groan escaped him. “I’m pleased you stopped in.” Remus pulled out a tissue and blew his nose. Severus’s eyes narrowed.
“I am not making you any sodding soup, you know.”
Remus’s eyes widened. “I wouldn’t expect it.”
“Nor will I put on the tea.”
“I can make my own tea, Severus. I wouldn’t want to trouble you.”
“You can forget about me drawing you a hot bath either, so don’t bother to ask.” There was a determined set to Severus’s shoulders.
Remus pushed himself up on his elbow to look intently at Severus. “I didn’t ask.”
“I am a busy man.”
The corners of Remus’s mouth twitched as he let himself fall back onto the sofa. “I suppose that means you will not get me a pillow or a drink of water either?” he asked.
“Absolutely not,” said Severus, as he conjured a glass of water and walked towards the bed to retrieve a pillow. “I do have a reputation to uphold.”
