The ginger tom placed one massive paw on Pussyboots' head. She yowled and tried to back away, but Crookshanks slowly forced her head to the rose-patterned carpet and held it there until she calmed.

The watching tabby backed away, blurred and became a woman. "Well. She should cooperate now."

"I hope you're right," said Snape. "Thank you, Minerva."

"Thank Miss Granger." Lupin, nose almost healed, joined them. "Crookshanks is her familiar."

Snape narrowed his eyes. "What is he - wait. No! Shoo! Stop!"

Minerva grabbed his arm. "Severus Snape! Why didn't you tell me Miss Greengrass's pet was in heat?"
