Remus had showered at Grimmauld Place, requested and received an audience with Kingsley. He’d expected to grovel, but his request to see Severus was easily granted.
Aurors allowed him access to Severus’ hospital room.
Severus didn’t open his eyes. “How long have I been here?”
“Four days.”
“It took you four days to summon the courage?”
“No, I spent the other three laid-out in the morgue.”
“An acceptable explanation.” He slipped on hand from under the blankets, and Remus clasped it in his own. Pride was something neither of them was going to let get in their way this time.
