Remus sat ecstatic and exhausted. Today, he’d brought his adopted sons home permanently. Aged one and three, they were imps. He was, finally, a family man. The doorbell rang; Severus stood wavering on the step.
“May I come in?”
Remus nodded.
Severus spoke in a rush, while inspecting his boots. “I shouldn’t have left. We should have talked. I..” he faltered. “I wanted one of our own. I didn’t tell you. I was afraid there might not be room for another child or even for me.”
Remus lifted Severus’ chin with a finger “Love stretches if you want it to.”
