The world, or rather her world is about to go on the brink of war. The Circle of the Black Thorn, The Order of Aurelius , and Glorificus's Minions had made an unholy alliance with North Korean and Iranian Governments to start World War III. Lilah Morgan, the head of The Initiative as well as well as Rutherford Sirk, the head of the Watcher's Council were speaking to the high military brass in DC along with Barack Obama himself and members of the European Union on what to do. Lilah never felt so much pressure put on her in all her life. How did it start? What was the nexus, the turning point, the thing that triggered these events? As simple enough, it started from the death of a young girl.

In the second week of December in 1998, a young girl Buffy Anne Summers left Cleveland and went to the primary Hellmouth in Sunnydale to help Rupert Giles and the White Hat Resistance group stop the then-leader of the Order of Aurelius simply named The Master, from opening a factory. He snapped her neck, killing her. This action caused the Watcher's Council to take a more active role in fighting evil. All watchers who were without a potential slayer under their wing were ordered by Sirk to track down every vampire and demon and slay them all. If a vampire is found, stake it. A demon who is committing acts of evil, kill it. It was time the council did more than just watching. A few days after Buffy's death, Lilah would start working with the council because she was working for The Initiative at the time.

Since then, a few events that occurred as the result of the death of the slayer, war was inevitable. Lilah was scared. Not for her own life, but for her family and friend's lives. She is here to make sure they have a future. She was sitting in a military dark green blazer with her general medals and declarations pinned on the blazer with a matching conservative skirt, nylons and heel with her long brunette hair down. She wasn't talking much, she was just there giving reports and listening in for orders on what their next move might be. Her only words mainly consisted of "Yes sir." "No Sir." And various similar responses.

Lilah was definitely looking forward to stop the apocalypse. But she was also tired of the endless war between humanity and demonic armies. When she heard about some losses, she put her elbow on the table and rubs the bridge of her noise as she closes her eyes, tired. Once she opened them, she found herself in a diner. She got up from the chair she sat in and accidentally knocked it down."What the Hell?!" She yelled out. She figured it out quickly what happened to her, some kind of inter-dimensional travel. But how? There was a mystical barrier put up by the finest witches and warlocks on Earth. It would have been impossible. And of course she was without her gun and stake since the meeting was required that all attendees must be unarmed. She's heard of this occurrence happening on Earth once, though not to her. Shortly before Buffy's death, a young girl named Cordelia Chase teleported from a world where Buffy was the slayer who watched after the Hellmouth on Earth. She then kneels down and picks up the chair she dropped and looked around and was highly alarmed and alert. She laughed and sighed as she rested her elbow on the table with her hand on her forehead, trying to figure a way out of this latest mess she found herself in.

Cordelia didn't wait tables. It just wasn't in her nature to do so, that and it wasn't her job at the cafe. She was the resident paper pusher not a server. But far be it of her to ignore faces she recognized, even if there was the possibility that she didn't like the people that wore them. Especially when it was pretty obvious that being here wasn't on their to-do list.

"Sorry, but we aren't Hell or any of the more well known hell dimensions." Cordelia said as she wandered over. "We're just the Lunatic Cafe."

She looked over to the brunette who spoke to her. She seemed...familiar. She placed her fingertip on her chin. Her fingertip seemed to have been missing a fingernail. A battle wound from one of the battles against demons she personally fought when she was a mere grunt in the initiative. Still she could not place a name.

So replied. "I'm sorry ma'am. You seem..." She paused. "...familiar to me." She would politely ask her. "Do we know each other?" She extended her hand. "I'm General Lilah Morgan of The Watcher Initiative Coalition. It's an honor to meet you."

General? Watcher Initiative? An eyebrow arched at that and Cordelia couldn't fathom how that happened, alternate universe or not. Not that she knew what this coalition was, but it was still a strange enough sounding combination to be pretty out there. But she had seen stranger things since she had died, so she couldn't be too surprised. Even if it was completely weird to think about.

"Apparently we don't, not in this life anyway." Cordelia eyed the hand for a moment but with a mental shrug she accepted it and gave it a shake. "Cordelia Chase. I'm one of the staff here at the cafe. Let me take a guess that this wasn't a planned visit."

She shook her hand as she got the name that answered all of her questions. "You're right, we have not met, personally. Watcher Rupert Giles wrote a detailed file on you or rather your counterpart from another world who visited our realm shortly after she made a wish." She let's go of her hand. "Your counterpart's presence had a profound influence on my world."

She sighed. "Not sure how to tell you this but, she died. Was killed by The Master's top two lieutenants, Willow and Xander. But her death wasn't in vain, if it means anything. It brought Buffy Summers, a slayer in my world, to Sunnydale. She died in battle..." She paused at this too long: don't listen tale. "...to make a long story a short essay, after Buffy died, it caused the Watcher's Council to take a more active role. They made an alliance with The Initiative when I was a mere grunt and they went from merely training slayers to becoming a task force that hunted and killed vampires and demons."

"And your assumption that this wasn't a planned visit is correct." She said before she narrowed her eyes. "You seemed to have looked at me like I look at lawyers and vampires. I take it where you're from, we were not the best of friends."

At least that answered what kind of reality would make Lilah a general. "I wouldn't know, considering I wasn't there myself." Oh, she was well aware of that reality now, but she still didn't have true first hand account of it since she herself hadn't lived (or died) through it.

Cordelia wasn't all that fond of hearing about her own death, especially when it just reminded her of the fact she technically was still dead, albeit from different choices in life than a wish. "I never would have imagined a Watcher and Initiative merger, but desperate times do lead to strange bedfellows, but if it helps save the world and possibly stop using a bunch of teenage girls as human shields, I can't say I'd argue against it."

"More like respected bitter enemies," Cordelia shrugged, but was tempted to laugh at the lawyer comment. Oh, that was just too good. But she held on to her decorum, as she was Cordelia Chase, not one of the Summers girls. Still, a hint of a smile managed to fight its way forward. "But you get used to seeing familiar faces around here not matching the people you actually know or know of."

She shrugged. "I wasn't there either. From what who is now known as Watcher Director Giles had written in said file, that other dimension, albeit still full of evil demons and vampires, it still was a better world than the one I just left. The Hellmouth had an active slayer and small task force of brave civilians who aided the slayer. Too bad my world wasn't as fortunate."

She shook her head. "You have no idea. The Hellmouth in our world started to grow outside Sunnydale borders. The Master was about to lead an army of vampires to destroy anything in their path." She then formed a fist for a brief second. "I made sure personally he never had the chance...." She then unbuttoned her uniform's dress shirt's right cuff button and pulled up her dark green blazer and uniform shirt's sleeve up, showing a nasty vampire bite mark on her forearm. "...though the bastard left this souvenir." She pulled back down her sleeve.

She raised an eyebrow. "Bitter enemies with a sweet lady like yourself?" She then sighs. "What did she do in your world? Was she a vampire? Did she work with evil demons or rogue enemy nations?"

"My world had our fair share of problems even though Buffy took out the Master." Sometimes Cordelia missed their world, but at least out here she could do more than just wait around and watch over people from afar. Death just wasn't that big of a deal around here, for which she was grateful. She had rules to follow, but she could at least interact with her friends and even be useful. "It doesn't actually make anything better, just different. It's perspective that makes it better or worse."

Lilah's scar made that eyebrow of Cordelia's arch again. She had taken the Master out? Huh. "I'm almost impressed. But hey, as long as you got out alive and saved the day, a scar isn't that bad of a souvenir. Of course, I'd be on my way to get that thing off of me as soon as it was over, but that's me."

"Close." She tossed her hair over her shoulder. "Lawyer for an evil law firm. I'd say she was misunderstood or something vaguely nice about her, but I'd be lying. But I can at least respect her skills even if she was a terrible person who made poor life choices."

She sighed. "My world is on the brink of World War III. The Master's former vampire cult had made an unholy alliance with The Circle of the Black Thorn, North Korea, Iran, and Glory and her people. The world of course knows of Iran and North Korea, but it's the other players that is the big concern." Lilah had this look as if the subject is making her whipped. "Who could go for a beer? I know I can."

"Oh I think of this as a reward, much more valuable than the purple cross." She smiled warmly. "It means that a citizen didn't get this bite, which is fine with me. And if he were to kill me, I'd of taken him with me."

Her eyes narrowed in anger. "It's Wolfram & Hart isn't it?" She nearly balled a fist, but kept her anger in check. "It's the only law firm I can think of that's purely evil. Sounds like a Lilah Morgan..."She never thought hearing the sound of her own name coming from her lips disgusts her. "...that Kate Lockley would have enjoyed." She paused for a second. "Oh and yes, Kate works for Wolfram & Hart, in my world, anyway."

"I can't exactly help with the World War III situation, but the beer, that I can help with." Cordelia made a hand gesture toward one of the servers on the floor. Soon enough a petite blonde came over and set a drink down for Lilah and then stood to the side a bit, as if waiting for another request. "First timers get their orders free during their first visit. If you want anything else, Tiffany here can get it for you." Cordelia may not wait on tables, but she was allowed to boss there servers around if none of the mangers were in sight.

Cordelia had to respect that. If you were going to wear a scar for the rest of your life, it may as be one well earned from slaying a notorious evil master vampire. "Well, seeing how you apparently survived and he didn't,you got the better win in the end. He gets to wallow away in whatever afterlife he's doomed for and cry about his epic failure to other dead demons."

"Of course it was. I'm pretty sure there's a law that Wolfram & Hart has to be evil in vat least ninety percent of the realities in existence." And now she was blinking in surprise. "Kate? Considering the Kate Lockley we knew, that one is hard to take in." Hard, but not impossible. "Where I'm from, she was a cop and a pretty straight laced one usually."

She saw the beer come towards her way thanks to Tiffany. She handed her a ten dollar bill. She shrugged. "Might be free, but I'm sure this currency would work in whatever reality you might randomly find yourself." Lilah respected a hard worker like Tiffany, so she rewarded them.

She grinned slightly before she gulped down the beer bottle. Not all of it, just half. Lilah has been known to drink many people under the table during her R&R so this bottle wasn't anything to her. "Mmmm good stuff. And I was just doing my duty for the species and the hard working demons who tries to make a living rather than destruction." Lilah was more than aware of good demons and Lilah would and has protect them from harm, even from evil humans such as some who worked for Wolfram & Hart.

And speaking of. Lilah had this extremely pissed off look. "She's a disgrace to the name Morgan. My mother served in Vietnam, that is now paralized from the waist down from a grenade shrapnel in her spine, and her father died a proud soldier in World War II. And this Lilah is a disgrace to their memories. If we were to meet, I'd either straighten her out, or send her to meet The Master." She took another smaller gulp of her beer so it would last. "A pity I could not meet your Kate. Sounds like someone we would recruit and could have been either a future grunt in the Initiative who might had worked up to general as I did or trained as a Watcher and uses less conventional means of combat. And speaking of..." She smiled at Cordelia. "...you have the 'I've been through combat and killed my share of demons and other nasties' look in your eyes. I can easily spot it. I could use you in my world."

Tiffany smiled, pocketed the tip, and offered a cheerful, "Thanks!" in response to Lilah. Then she glanced over at Cordelia, as if to expect another request. One that Cordelia wasn't giving yet, just in case Lilah wanted something else before she sent the girl away.

Cordelia quirked her head to the side. "Nice to see someone remembers that innocent bystanders also include a portion of the demon population. Not everyone wants to remember that diversity exists when it comes to who you're fighting for."

"I don't actually know a lot about the background of my world's Lilah. For all I know she was raised by a demons. She might not have the same upbringing as you did." It was almost funny at how this Lilah was taking Lawyer Lilah's existence. She never would have expected this, ever. But here it was. "I've had plenty of experience, but it doesn't do me a whole lot of good anymore. I can't be hands on anywhere except in the cafe and the nexus here."

She tipped her beer bottle to Tiffany and smiled. "No problem."

She nodded. "Not all of them are bystanders. Some even work with us. I have a couple on my squad and a few are on the Watcher Initiative Coalition council, along with myself. We even have a few vampires who didn't want a world that the other side wanted to build. Some are re-ensouled a few aren't."

She thought of what Cordelia said of her lawyer counterpart from Cordy's world. "Hm, perhaps. I just can;'t see a world where I am evil and serve and even defend evil." She then raised her eyebrows. She knew what that kind of talking meant. She encountered a few ghosts who spoke as Cordelia did. "You died, didn't you?"

"Not too surprising. Even Spike chose to help Buffy rather than help Angelus try to destroy the world." It didn't make them the good guys of course, but circumstances made for strange bedfellows. "When even the soulless population disagrees your plans for domination, you should take that as a sign that you're doing something wrong."

"I don't think anyone wants to believe that there are worlds out there where they aren't the same as they know themselves to be. But the universe is a big place. Anything can happen." Something she had learned first hand, many times. Cordelia shrugged, "Of course I did, the best ones usually do. So I'm restricted as to how I can help out these days. Being a guardian angel only allows me to do so much. The bosses are pretty strict with the boundaries."
