You're all I need, I'm in the middle your picture, Lying in the reeds... Who: Fang & Vanille! What: The kids have been tucked in... Now what? Where: Orphanage in Balamb city When: Saturday, Nov 22nd, 8pm or later? Warnings: tbd, probably none (Maybe some foul language?) Status: Incomplete!
They'd come a long way from being two little girls raised in a make shift orphanage back in Oerba. Now they were the ones taking care of little girls, and boys. They were the ones enforcing the rules, making meals, reading stories, playing games, and tucking the kids into bed. Vanille was gorgeous as she smiled upon the children each day, encouraging their imaginations, and egging them along to learn more, and expand their horizons. It really just made Fang fall in love with her more with every passing second of every day.
It was a beautiful thing to watch.
Even if - in some ways - every day it broke her heart.... To have something she wanted, burned for, so desperately close, yet at the same time so far away... Though Fang had made peace with the fact that she would always be in the wings when it came to Vanille years ago. All through her late teens and early twenties she had pined for the younger woman, a fierce passion nearly burning a hole in her soul, but...
Fang was not the type of person who Vanille would romantically love. Vanille needed someone who could whisper sweet nothings in her ear, somehow who could write her songs, and poetically wax on for hours about her beauty, and the brightness in her eyes. Someone with soft hands, and a gentle heart, someone who could promise Vanille the stars, and then take her there too. The hunter could never do these things, she didn't have the right words, her brain didn't work in the right way. All she could do was everything she'd done all this time: Stand by Vanille, and protect her, and everything she loved.
It might not be much but... The other woman was happy.
If Vanille was happy - even if her happiness didn't stem from anything Fang ever did - then Fang would make sure she was happy too.
After all, what mattered most in her entire world was Vanille's safety, and protection. Being able to be around, and be Vanille's friend was enough, even if made her heart sting a bit still when she thought about it too much.
Tucking in the last child for the evening Fang slowly meandered back to where she figured Vanille would be, and smiled as she came across the other woman - seemingly - engrossed in something or another she was now working on. Shifting in the doorway Fang placed one of her shoulders across the doorframe to lean against it, and lazily let her arms cross loosely over her abdomen.
"Super interesting thing there, eh?" A nod of her head was given to what Vanille was looking over with the smallest adoration filled smile beginning to pull at her lips.
