Minor spoilers for future and upcoming storylines, but so worth the read. Van and Jake are complete love.

Excerpt:

Jake, when you found out Van was going to be your love interest on the show, what were your thoughts?
Silbermann: The first time I met Van was at the GLAAD awards a few years ago. I had just gotten the part a week prior, and now I am walking down the red carpet. It was lucky we had these "out of studio" chances to get to know each other, like the GLAAD awards, where I was such a deer in headlights. I was dazed with all the paparazzi. I grabbed onto Van’s coattails!

Van, your thoughts on working with Jake?
Hansis: It’s an honor to have someone I trust fully and completely. In a scene with Jake, I know that anything I do won’t be judged, and I feel a freedom with him. I think Jake made an amazing point. If you are working with someone you don’t like, or do not feel a connection to outside of work, just as friends, it makes it a lot harder. Going to work is then a blast, because I know I am going to be there with one of my best friends having a good time.

I haven't seen this posted here yet but Michael Fairman (On Air On Soaps) interviewed Van recently.

There are some spoilers for the Luke and Noah episodes airing in the next couple of weeks. But it's a great interview.

VAN:

...So yeah, Luke and Noah are being pulled apart. Will it be forever? No, probably, not. They are each other’s true love....

Van totally ships Nuke. \O/

MICHAEL:

How is working with your on-screen partner Jake Silbermann (Noah) after all the hype and the publicity surrounding the pairing?

VAN:

We don’t get sick of each other. I think Jake is one of the funniest people I have worked with. We know how to make it fun. Jake is a really good guy and he is my best friend on the show.

I know it isn't even Christmas yet, but for me today is officially the best day of 2008. It was so amazing I had to commemorate it the only way I know how -- with lots of pointless editing that amuses me way too much.

Their As The World Turns’ co-star Van Hansis (Luke), who was nominated as younger lead actor for the second year in a row, concurred, adding, “along with a few other actors from our show.” The unusually stylish and confident actor reminds us that although he wasn’t a judge this year, the gay icon thinks “the industry needs to figure out a better system, one that is more concise. Having said that, I’m still very happy with how the nominations turned out today.” Hansis’ ATWT love interest, Jake Silbermann (Noah) also failed to be recognized, but the actor tells me; “Jake will be at the Emmys." They will be bringing their own dates, Hansis informs me with a sly wink.

Van and Jake did a feature interview with Soap Opera Digest for the magazine's - and I am not kidding - "Man Issue." So it turns out the soap rags actually do have a sense of humor.

The issue will be on newstands April 15th. In the meantime, they have posted some "outtakes" on their website, where the boys argue about movies and comic books and defy anyone to believe they are not completely, totally and madly in love with one another.    

Soap Digest: Did you have a natural rapport or did you have to work on your chemistry?
Hansis: We don't sit down like, "So, Jake, let's work on our chemistry. I'm going to glare longingly into your eyes."
Silbermann: Eyes, lips, eyes.
Hansis: That is a trick, I think. You look eyes, lips, eyes.
Digest: Who taught you that?
Hansis: I made it up [laughs]. But it works! It reads on camera very well.

I cannot rationally explain it, but I find this almost unbearably cute.   Literally.  I CANNOT BEAR how cute this is.

Van Hansis wears his grandpa’s cowboy boots!  He makes fun of Luke’s wardrobe!  He very obviously practices his paparazzi pose in front of the mirror.  A lot!  He shops at Roz’s Place in Northampton, Mass, which is quite possibly the dykiest place in the universe! (and a stone’s throw from Smith College, natch.  Hi, Smith!  I really don't miss you at all.)  I love him, you guys.  Help me.

Not sure if anyone's posted this already, but Van and Jake both had features in this week's Soap Opera Digest: Jake for an actor's focus, and Van for a thing where they showcase characters who've gone through a lot of trauma in a short period of time.

Anyway, in case anyone's interested in checking them out, I scanned both articles and posted them to my journal [here!]
