Sorry for the errors. I can't seem to find a beta for this chap!
We stopped at Noah’s bar because he had forgot to turn something in, or on and the guy there couldn’t figure it out. I don’t know. All I know is I am getting very annoyed, and so is Noah. Warrrick and Maddie climded in a both and seem to be lost in their own little word.
“Guys, I’m getting hungry,” Noah says, tossing a paper napkin at Warrick and Maddie. He looks at his watch and tosses a bag of chips at them. She is sitting over his lap. I think her tongue is all the way down his throat. I look away from them. I am in shock. I have no ideal why she's doing and why she's doing this now.
“We could leave without them,” Noah says, looking at me then his watch.
“I don’t think they’d notice if we did leave,” I say. Should I go alone with him? There’s that smile again and he holds his hand out for mine.
“My car is here,” he says. I put my hand in his and I stand up. I again look at Maddie. She doesn’t see us stand up. She all over Warrick. Touching him, letting him touch her. I wonder if they know they are in a bar full of others. I clear my throat, she doesn't even look our way. So, we look at each other and head for the door. I know I’m going to hear about this later. We walk outside and he'd for the parking lot. Should I go alone with him. Is this safe.
Noah stops and looks at the limo. I can't help but hopes he wants to take it. I'd feel a bit safer witht he driver with us. I have to remind myself I just meeting a day ago.
“No, we’ll take the limo. He’s got a key to my car,” Noah says, pulling me the other way, now. I don’t say anything and follow him to the limo.
“Where are your friends?” The driver asks.
“They decided to stay here,” Noah said as the driver opened the door for us. I got in and Noah followed me. The driver shut the door and I sat back in my seat and tried to calm my nerves. Maddie was wanted to up on something to help but I take enought pills as it is.
“Where to, next?” He asks as the starts the car.
“Zio’s,” Noah says. I look up at him.
“I’ve always wanted to eat there,” I say, softly. The few times I’ve gone out, there has been a wait longer than anyone could stand, so we’ve never gone there.
Noah smiles and takes my hand. I close my eyes and again fight the fear down.My mind won't stop as it's fill with all the what if and why. I'm starting to get a headach. I have to stop this before I ruin the whole night. We pulled up to the restaurant, and, just like always, there are people waiting outside. The drivers pulls up to the front and gets out. He opens the door for us and Noah gets out first. He holds his hand out for me and I take a hold of his hand and he helps me out. We make our way inside and I hear the hostess tell the couple in front of us there is already a four hour wait. I wonder if we are going to wait that long.
“Hello,” the hostess says.
Noah smiles at her. “I have a table waiting for us,” he says.
“What is your name?” She asks.
“It should be under Mayer,” he says.
She looks at her list. “I’ll go check and see if it’s ready.” She disappears and returns. “Please, follow me,” she says.
“Wow,” I say. “I didn’t think they took reservations,” I say as we are seated.
“They don’t, but I know the owner,” Noah said. “So, I gave him a call and he saved us a table.”
I look down at the menu, but I already know what I want. You can’t come here without having their five-cheese chicken alfredo. It’s what they are known for.
“I was thinking we could go try our luck at the tables for a while before the movie,” Noah says.
The waiter comes over to us.
“Can I get you a drink?” He asks.
“I’ll have Bud Light,” Noah says. He looks at me and I smile. “And a coke for her,” he says as I close my menu. “Are you ready to order?”
Noah looks at me and I nod.
“I’ll have the five-cheese chicken alfredo,” I say.
“I’ll have the same,” Noah says.
The waiter takes the menus. “Salad and bread?” He asks.
“That would be great,” Noah says.
“I will be right back with your drinks,” he says.
“Wow, this place is really nice,” I say. Each time he smiles at me i feel more a ease. And there is something about his eyes.
Noah smiles and reaches over and takes my hand.
“So, cards?” he asks again.
“Oh, yeah. I’m never played before, but it sounds fun,” I say. I can't believe I told him that, the list is to long of things I've never done. I so need this.
“You’ve never played?” He asks, looking at me.
“I’ve never been in one of the casinos,” I say. There is not point lieing.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Noah says.
I shake my head. “Like I said, I don’t go out much.”
“Well, I hope that changes,” Noah says. He smiles. “That sounded better in my head.”
I smile. “I know what you were getting at,” I say.
Our salads, bread, and drinks are brought out to us. I take a bit of the bread, another thing everyone raves about here.
“Oh, wow, this is really good Best I’ve had. Don’t tell Vinnie,” I say, taking another bit.
“Who is Vinnie?” Noah asks.
“Oh, it’s Maddie’s brother. He’s like my brother,He really is a chef.” I say.
Noah nods and starts on his salad. Just as we finish up with our salads, our dinners are brought out to us.
“Prefect timing,” Noah says as the waiter clears our dirty plates and places our dinners in front of us. He also refills our drinks. I taste a bit and it melts in my mouth.
“Oh, God, Vinnie’s going to kill me,” I say. It’s the best thing I’ve tasted in along time. Who am I kidding? It’s the best think I’ve ever eaten.
“So, what do you think?” Noah asks.
“I think Vinnie is going to hate me,” I say, smiling.
“I’ll have to meet this Vinnie and tell him it’s all my fault,” he says.
“I may hold you up to that,” I say. Before I know it, I’ve cleaned my whole plate.
“Any room for dessert?” The waiter asks.
I shake my head. I’m so stuffed, I think I’m going to explode. Noah pays the bill and we head for the exit. And I have to go to the restroom. I can't beleive I didn't do that before we left. I avoid using them out in public as much as I can. And I can't wait any longer.
“I have to use the ladies room,” I say.
He stops and waits as I walk inside. I got into the last stall and lock the door. I lean up on the wall and place my hand on my stomach. I take in a few deep breaths. I lift my dress up and sit down making sure everything is down where it should be. I take care of my needs and stand up and and do my best to get things back in place. It much easier to do it laying down. The last thing I need is for it to come alive make itself known. Lucky everything goes where I want it without taking to long. I walk out and head over to the mirror. I wash my hands and open my bag and remove my lipstick.
“Aren’t you a pretty thing?” I hear. I see an older lady walking inside. She smiles at me as she, too, washes her hands. I touch up my lip stick and replace it in my bag.
“Thanks,” I say, reaching for a towel. I dry my hands and notice she is still looking at me. I reach for the door. I start to worry, why is she looking at me.
“Are you single?” She asks.
“I’m dating someone,” I say.
“All the pretty ones are taken,” she says. “I was looking for a nice, pretty girl for my grandson”.
“I’m sorry,” I say, smiling. I can't help but let out a sigh of relief.
“Well, I hope he treats you right, and you have fun,” she says.
“I’m sure he will,” I say, walking out.
Noah greets me with a smile that sends a chill down me. He takes my hand and we walk outside. I can’t help but wonder why he wasn’t asked me anything about what he learned at the bar. I jump a bit as my phone rings.
“It’s Maddie,” I say.
“You know, for a shrink, she sure treats you badly,” he says. “I mean, I probably shouldn’t say anything….” He says as we reach the limo.
I don’t answer it and I turn it off. “Well, she’s kind of two different people, She not like that at work.” I say. “She’s had a hard time. Her bother lost his wife just before I moved here and she’s been helping him out. He took it very hard. He’s just now getting to a good place again,” I say, getting in the limo. “She’s making up for lost time, I guess,” I say. He’s right, though, I’m so mad at her right now. It was her idea to go on a double date to begin with and she pulls that crap. Telling me to be careful and not do anything stupid, when she’s sucking on some guy’s tongue she’s only meet a day ago.
“Where to?” The driver asks. Noah looks at the clock. It’s a bit after seven.
“The Bellagio,” he says, and I wonder if he was anything else up his sleeve. We stop at the fountains. I’ve never seem them in person. It's amazing to see them.
“Can you believe all the guys in Ocean’s Eleven stood here?” I ask. Now i'm sounding like a dork.
He smiles. “My phone is a camera, I could take your picture,” he says, pulling it out.
I nod and he backs up.
“Say cheese,” he says.
I smile and wait.
“Turned out nice,” he says, showing it to me. He puts his phone in his pocket and leans on the railing.
“So, are you going to teach me to play cards?” I say after a while. It's almost like he's waiting for it be later.
“Sure,” Noah says, putting his arm around me. He pulls me close and we walk inside. I pull away just a bit, looking around.
“This is amazing,” I say. I feel like a tourist, or something and I’ve lived here three years!
He looks at his watch. “Do you want a drink?” He asks, stopping. I know he’s got something else planned and we must be too early for it.
“Yeah,” I say, and we walk over to the bar.
He gets another beer and I get a glass of wine. We sit down and he keeps looking at his watch.
“What’s going on?” I ask.
“Nothing, just checking the time,” he says, standing up.
“Oh, really?” I ask. Now he's starting to make me worry. Thought it doesn't take much.
“I got us a table,” he says
“Our own table?” I ask.
“Yeah,” he says. “I thought dinner would take a bit longer. I got the table for 8:30.”
I smile and stand up.
“We could play the slots for a while,” he says.
“That sounds fun,” I say as we walk inside. I stop, seeing the security guard checking IDs.
“I can’t go in there,” I say, backing up. ‘Shit, I got…. my driver’s license still says Luke Snyder on it!’ My mind screams at me.
“It’s ok,” Noah says, turning towards me.
“No, it’s not,” I say. He walks towards me. No, I can’t show this man my license with that name and photo on it. I back up a bit more. That is the one thing I fear the most. Getting stop and needing to show my ID. Maddie was a letter writen up explaining everything but still, it's not something I want to show anyone. What am I going to do? I feel a panic I've never felt before and fear I'm gong to pass out.
“Come on, let’s go inside,” he says placing his hand on my back. His voice brings me out of the panic I was in. I swallow but, don’t put up a fight. The look on his face tells me it's going to be ok. And for an unknow reason I trust him.
“Hello, Noah!” The guard calls out. “So, is this the lady that lost her ID?”
“Ginger, this is Steven,” he says as the guard shakes my hand. He hands me a card. “Have fun and, hopefully, you’ll win,” he says. We walk inside and I turn towards the guard one last time. I then look at Noah.
“How did you know?” I ask. I think. My mind is racing so fast right now I put my hand on the side of my face.
“I had a feeling,” he says, checking his watch. “We got about twenty minutes until our table is ready,” he says. I run my hand through my hair. Stop it know I scream to myself. I take in a few deep breaths. He is watching me but doesn't say a word.
"When your ready" he says taking my hand. I close my eyes and rest my head on his chest. I pull away from him and again smiles. I smile back and he pulls me forward. I look around at all the bright and noisy machines, watching people pour their life savings in them. It’s almost kind of sad how people can get hooked on these things.
“The wild aces are fun,” Noah says as we walk over to them. I sit down and open my bag. He sits next to me and removes his wallet. He holds out a twenty for me.
“No, you don’t have to pay for that,” I say, removing my own money.
“Then, I’ll treat for cards,” he says as I insert my card and smiles as it says, “Welcome, Ginger Snyder!” I wonder how he know my last name but I decide not to ask. I watch the machine suck in my twenty. I pull the handle and watch. Nothing.
“I’m down three,” I say, smiling.
Noah pulls his machine and the thing comes to life. It flashes and makes all kinds of music like he just won a the big jackpot. I look and he’s only won five credits.
“Wow, all that for that?” I ask.
“You’re a hard women to impress,” Noah says, pulling the machine again. It does the same thing, but, this time, he wins three credits. I lose three again. We do this until he both lost our money and head over to the card table. It’s now 8:25.
“I don’t play the slots much,” he says. “I like a game where you have to think.”
“Do you come here a lot?” I ask, wondering how he got us our own table. The place is paced and there seems to lines for every table game.
“About once a month. My brother is a dealer here,” he says as we walk up to the table. I look at a man that is almost a spitting image of Noah.
“This is my brother, Nathaniel,” he says. “Call him Nate. Nate, this is Ginger.”
“Hello. Nice to meet you,” he says, holding is hand out to me. I shake it and sit down. Noah removed two one-hundred dollar bills and hands them to Nate.
“Where the hell did you guys go?” I hear. I turn and see Maddie and Warrick. They both look really upset. But I could careless.
“We tried to tell you,” Noah says as Nate gave us our chips.
Maddie looks at me and sits down.
“You should have told us you were leaving,” Warrick says.
“Well, if you two would have stop sucking face long enough, you would have heard us,” Noah says taking my hand.
“You guys in?” Nate asks.
Warrick nods and pulls out his wallet.
Maddie looks at me and I look away. She’s staring at me. I close my eyes.
“Noah, could you get me a wine cooler, or something?” I ask. I just got myself calmed down and don't need her to do this right now.
“Yeah, sure,” he says, looking for a waitress. He flags one down and gets himself another beer as well.
“So, are you guy having fun?” Maddie asks with a harshness in her voice.
“Yeah, we are,” I say, looking away again. “Looks like you’re having fun, too,” I say, pointing out the hickey on her neck. She was some nerve.
Maddie touches her neck and tries to look at it. I smile and take the drink from Noah.
“Did you eat?” Maddie asks.
“Yeah, I had the five-cheese chicken alfredo,” I say, taking a sip. “Thank you,” I say to Noah.
“Ok, I love you and all, but you only have this table for two hours,” Nate says. “So, who is in?”
“What game are we playing?” I ask.
“Blackjack,” Noah says as Nate nodded. I’m sure he picked something easy for me. I sit down and Nate gives Maddie and Warrick their chips. I've seem this game on TV and it does seem easy.
“How did you get in here?” Maddie whispers.
“I told the guard I lost my card and he believed me. Plus, he was a friend of Noah’s,” I say, partly lying to her. I take another drink and watch Nate work his magic on the cards. "Now stop talking to me so I can learn." Noah now turns his attishion to me. I move closer to him. I can't take my eyes of him as the tells me everything I need to know about cards.
