Summary: Luke and Noah in the aftermath of the Brian ordeal. SPOILER ALERT: Based on next week's spoilers so beware :)
Noah sat in old town waiting for Luke to arrive. Funny how just a couple weeks ago they sat on that same bench kissing under the mistletoe very well on their way to working things out. Now in the aftermath of catching Luke kissing Brian (and finding out it was due to Luke’s coercing), Noah was unsure of what was to become of their relationship. Could they get past this? Noah felt so hurt and betrayed, but he loved Luke so much to just forget everything they had together over a kiss—one made out of malice, but also of insecurity and pain. Noah was sure they would eventually find their way to each other again—after all, he was willing to meet up with Luke now despite their situation. For what exactly, Noah didn’t know; Luke just asked if they could see each other, possibly to explain himself. Whatever the case, Noah was willing to hear him out. Love is far from simple, complicated at best, and as much as Noah was hurting, he owed it to him and Luke to try to work things out.
Noah was staring at the floor mentally preparing himself, when he saw a shadow looming over him. As Noah looked up, he saw a teary-eyed Luke holding a small box. That box looked all too familiar to Noah—it was the box that contained the watch he gave Luke for Christmas; the watch that said “worth the wait," because Noah would wait an eternity if it meant having a life with his Luke. However, Noah’s worst nightmare might have come to fruition because it seemed that Luke might have lost the will to wait, and to fight for that happy ending that they wanted so much once upon a time.
“I’m so sorry I hurt you the way I did,” sobbed Luke. “I don’t know how you can even look at me, because I can’t stand the sight of my own reflection. You loved me and trusted me and promised me countless times that I was your happy ending—you’re true love. I was worth the wait to you, and yet THAT wasn’t enough for me. I was so selfish and so out of line going out of my way to hurt you. No one’s true love intentionally tries to pain the other. I got lost in my pride and ended up losing the one thing that mattered to me the most, you.”
Noah thought watching Luke kiss someone other than him was hell, but seeing his beloved in such agony just about killed him. Noah didn’t want to hate Luke. In fact, watching Luke cry made Noah just want to pull him into a hug and just stay within that embrace until this rough patch in their relationship was over. He thought he would initially be offended by Luke trying to give back the watch, and in doing so, breaking up, but Noah refused to let such a thing happen.
Springing to his feet, Noah rushed to Luke and wrapped his arms around him, cradling the back of his neck as Luke continued to cry into Noah’s chest. “We’ll get through this,” Noah reassured Luke, “I love you too much to lose you over a stupid kiss. We WILL get through this.” When Luke’s crying finally subsided, Noah took the watch out of the box and placed it back on Luke’s wrist. “Do you believe me?” Noah asked as he kissed Luke on the forehead.
“I believe you,” answered Luke. This time he actually did.
