Hey everyone! Here is Part Eight! It's a little shorter than the others...but I still kinda like it! :)
Enjoy!
Title: Joystick
Pairing: Van/Jake
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I do not own Van or Jake, or the characters of Luke and Noah. This is complete fabrication.
“Ugh…Jake…”
“I’m sorry…”
“Come on...faster!”
“Van, I’m trying!”
“You are driving me crazy! You’re going too slow!”
“And you think it isn’t driving me crazy?”
“Well, then do something about it!”
“For the last time…I’m trying!”
“We’ve done this a thousand times by now! I would think that you would have some idea as to how…”
“It’s not working right, Van…I think it’s broken.”
“Well, try harder!”
“I am!”
“Try to shift a little harder to the left.”
“I’ve tried shifting in every direction…for once, it’s not responding!”
“This doesn’t make any sense! It was working when we did this yesterday!”
“I know…I don’t get it!”
“Well, why don’t we switch places? Maybe it will work for me.”
“OK.”
Van slid over to Jake’s other side and the two quickly switched their roles.
“Alright, now where did we leave off?”
The pair immediately started again, only to find that Van was having the exact same problem as Jake.
“Damn it…this is really weird.”
“Yeah, well…this is the first time something like this has happened. It was bound to come up sooner or later.”
“Yeah, you’re right…maybe we should just do something else?”
“Like what? I know that this is your favorite activity…”
“I don’t know…maybe SkeeBall?”
Jake looked up at the other side of the arcade to the empty SkeeBall games that lined the far wall.
“Sure,” he nodded. “That’s sounds fun.”
The pair began to walk over to the other side of the room, the light clank of their tokens jingling in their pockets. They passed a young worker, who was busy trying to reset a machine for a little blonde haired boy.
“Excuse me?”
At being acknowledged, the worker looked up at Van and Jake.
“Can I help you?”
“We just wanted to let you know that the left joystick on the Pac-Man machine is broken.”
