Here is part three of Every Day Life! Enjoy!
Title: Subway
Pairing: Jake/Van
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I do not own Van or Jake, or the characters of Luke and Noah. None of this is real. This is complete fabrication.
“Jake, don’t look now, but those girls over there are looking at us.”
“Where?”
“11 o’clock.”
“My 11 o’clock, or your 11 o’clock?”
“My 11 o’clock…your 5 o’clock.” Van watched them out of the corner of his eye and waited until it was safe. “OK, quickly look now.”
Jake slowly turned away from his spot across from Van and looked over his right shoulder at the girls. Just as he saw them, one of the girls met his eyes, and he quickly turned back to Van.
“Shoot, they saw me looking,” Jake said nervously. “Do you think they recognize us? Or do they just think we are hot?”
“Hmm, I’m not sure. Either way…” he said, leaning forward toward Jake with a gleam in his eye. “…what do you say we give them a show?” He sneakily put his hand on Jake’s thigh, where it rested out of view for a few seconds before it was quickly brushed away.
“Come on, Van…you know we can’t.” Van sighed and leaned back in his seat.
“I know. The message boards would flip out if we were caught.”
“That,” Jake agreed, “and not to mention the press would have a field day if they found out.”
“Yeah, and we wouldn’t want to destroy their suspicions of you, ‘Supposedly-Straight Silbermann’.”
“And, we definitely couldn’t affirm their assumptions of you either, ‘Hopefully-Homo Hansis’. We couldn’t have that.” Both boys burst into laughter.
Just then, the train stopped and the boys made their way to the exit. They didn’t get ten feet away before Jake felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned and came face-to-face with the girls.
“Excuse me, would you guys mind taking a picture with us?” one of the girls asked, her hands clutching her camera and her eyes pleading.
“Sure!” Van smiled at them before flashing one at Jake. They took a few minutes to each take pictures with the girls, and then take ones with both of them together, before parting ways. The girls thanked them for their work on the show, and Van and Jake thanked them for watching, and the boys turned and finally made their way out of the subway terminal.
They walked in silence until they reached the street, when Van spoke up.
“Jake, they are following us.” Jake quickly glanced behind them and saw the girls from the train walking about fifty feet behind them.
“What should we do? I don’t want them to find out where I live!”
“That’s not exactly what I’m worried about,” Van confessed.
“What’s wrong?” Jake asked, raising his eyebrow toward him. Van looked up at him with an expression in his eyes that Jake recognized as mock terror.
“What if they find out where you live and they bring their camera along with them?!” Jake looked at him knowingly, and then smiled.
“Well, that would definitely put a damper on our plans for the evening.”
