Here you go guys! Sorry it took so long. This chapter was a bit of a challenge for me. I hope you like it.  As always feedback please!

“I’m almost 10 weeks. Can you believe it? I hadn’t been feeling well, so I went to the doctor while Lucy was at school today. I didn’t have a bug like I thought. Believe me I was as shocked as you look right now, Noah. Well say something. Babe say something.”

“Congratulations!” Luke speaks up trying to sound convincing “I’m really happy for you two.”

“Thank you” Noah says quietly. He turns his attention back to the ultrasound in his hand. He stares at the black and white photo and traces the lines with the tip of his finger.

“Noah please say something.” Maddie begs “Say anything but don’t just sit there like you’ve gone completely mental.”

“I’m happy Maddie. I just, I just wasn’t expecting it.”

“I wasn’t either babe, but I’m so excited. A baby brings so much joy” she says happily.

“Mommy, can I have a baby sister?” Lucy asks.

“Sweetie we won’t know if it’s a boy or a girl for a little while longer, but I’m sure you will love your sibling no matter what, right?”

“Yes, but I really want a baby sister.”

“Okay.” Maddie says “We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Luke sits in his chair looking down uncomfortably and playing with his napkin. Noah slides his foot under the table and taps Luke’s foot. Luke looks up at Noah and gazes into his eyes. Noah gives Luke a dejected look as if to say “I’m so sorry.” Luke just looks away and continues to fidget with his napkin.

“So,” Maddie says finally breaking the silence “Luke do you want to have kids someday?”

“Definitely,” he says “but it has to be with the right person. Someone I’m completely in love with.”

“I totally agree. Don’t you babe?” Maddie asks Noah.

“I have to go” Luke says as he stands up from his chair.

“What you can’t leave yet.” Maddie pleas “We haven’t even had dessert.”

“I really should go” he insists.

“I’ll drive you home” Noah says finally speaking up.

“No, I’ll take a cab. You just got some big news you should stay here with your family. Really its no problem.”

“Luke, I’m going to drive you home” Noah says sternly.

“Luke it’s really no problem.” Maddie says sweetly “ Noah told me earlier you had business to discuss after dinner. He will drive you home. I won’t have you paying for a cab.”

“Okay fine” Luke says giving in.

“Now you,” Maddie says pointing to Lucy “need to take a bath and then it’s bedtime.”

“Daddy will you be home to tuck me in?” Lucy asks.

“Not tonight princess” Noah says solemnly. He leans over and kisses her on the cheek before turning to Luke. “You ready?” Luke nods they and start to walk for the door.

“Wait!” Lucy yells “Luke you forgot your picture.”

Luke walks back over to the table and takes the envelope from Lucy’s hand.

“Thank you Lucy” he says “I would have been so sad if I left this.”

He leans down to give her a hug. As he is pulling away she plants a soft kiss on his cheek and smiles.

“Bye Luke” she says.

He walks back over to the front door with Noah and they start to walk out.

“Hey!” Maddie calls from the table “What time will you be home?”

“ We’re just going to talk for awhile,” Noah says “I’ll be home before midnight.”

“Okay. Call me if you’re gonna be late. You know how I worry.”

“I will” he says.

As he closes the door behind him Noah can hear Lucy say “I like daddy’s friend. Can he come over for dinner every night?”

They sit in silence all the way to Luke’s condominium. Luke glances over at Noah every once in a while, but he is completely focused on the road. A few times Luke opens his mouth to say something, but he decides that maybe Noah just needs some peace and quiet to think. Luke stares out the window at the lights of the city and thinks to himself.

Once they arrive at Luke’s place, they both get out of the car. Noah follows Luke up the walk way and stairs until they are standing outside Luke’s door.

“Well I guess this is goodnight” Luke says softly.

“Can I come in?” Noah asks.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Luke, please. I just need to be around you right now. I need you to hold me.”

“Okay fine, but you can’t stay long.”

Luke unlocks the door and they both step inside.

“Do you want a drink or something?” Luke asks “I don’t keep any alcohol here, but I can go get you something if you want.”

“I just want to lie down Luke. Can we just lie down?”

“Yeah we can do that” Luke answers.

They walk into Luke’s bedroom and Noah goes to sit on the edge of the bed. He bends down to untie his shoes and then slips each one off. Luke goes into his walk-in closet and selects a pair of pajama bottoms from one of the shelves. He takes off his clothes, sets them in the laundry basket and puts the pants on. He searches for a shirt to wear to bed but can’t find one. He walks back into his room to look for one but stops. He sees Noah laying on his bed wearing only boxers, curled up in the fetal position.

He slowly makes his way over and lays down by him. He spoons Noah from behind and kisses the back of his neck. Noah begins to sob uncontrollably and Luke is at a loss for what he should do. So he just lays there, alternating between stroking Noah’s back and rubbing his arm. Once Noah has stopped crying he rolls over to face Luke.

“Luke, I meant what I said to Maddie. I am happy about a new baby it’s just I had it all planned out in my head. Everything was going to be fine. I was going tell her about us. She was going keep our place. I was going move in here with you. We would have joint custody of Lucy. It was the perfect plan. But a baby. That changes everything. Babies are so much work. I can’t leave Maddie all by herself with a newborn. I just don’t know what to do. I want to do what is right, but I feel like I keep doing the wrong thing.”

“Noah it will all work out, I just know it. It may not seem like it now but--”

Luke’s words are cut off by Noah’s lips on his. Luke moans softly and surrenders to the kiss. Noah parts Luke’s lips with his tongue and then dives into his mouth with an urgency that makes Luke let out a soft moan. Noah cups Luke’s cheek with his hand and the kiss deepens. Noah moves his hand from Luke’s cheek, to his neck, to his chest, then his waist. He moves the hand around to gently squeeze Luke’s butt, then moves to his final destination Luke’s growing erection. He places his hand over the crotch of Luke’s pants and rubs his hand over it. Luke moans and thrusts into the friction. Noah’s fingertips tease the elastic band of Luke’s pajama pants and suddenly he shoves his hand down the front the them to grasp Luke’s cock. Luke gasps and throws his head back in ecstasy. “I love you too. But I feel like maybe we shouldn’t have done that I mean a lot happened today.”

“Luke. When you’re inside me it’s the only time I feel safe and unafraid of the future. I needed that tonight more than I ever have before.”

“Oh.” Luke says quietly “Well when you put it that way.”

“Luke,” Noah says softly “I just want to tell you, I haven’t slept with Maddie since you and I got back together.”

“Noah you don’t have to do that. She’s your wife I don’t expect you to just--”

“I know I don’t have to, but I want to be faithful to you and fair to her. It wouldn’t be fair if I was thinking of you when I made love to her. I did that the first time I slept with her and I haven’t done it since, it hurt too much.”

“Faithful to me the way I was faithful to you?”

“Luke I didn’t mean it like that. I wasn’t trying to bring up the past. I forgave you for that so long ago. I’m just happy you’re here with me now.”

“About that. Noah I haven’t been completely honest. I mean when we broke up it didn’t matter, but now I guess it does. It’s about Reg.”

“I know” Noah says.

“What do you mean you know?”

“I mean I know he was the one you left me for.”

“How? Reg said he never told you.”

“He didn’t have to. Right before I left Oakdale, after you broke up with me, I saw you two together in Al’s. I didn’t know who he was, I’d never seen him before. But I saw you sitting in the booth beside him. He was touching you and you were laughing. You seemed happy. I really wanted you to be happy, even if it wasn’t with me. So I left town the next day. Then six months ago he comes looking for a job. At first I thought it was some sick joke. I thought he was messing with me, but I realized he really didn’t know who I was. So I gave him the job. I wanted to get to know him. See what kind of guy could make you happy in a way that I couldn’t.”

“Why didn’t you tell me you knew?”

“The same reason you didn’t bring it up until now. It doesn‘t matter. It’s ancient history.”

“Well I talked to him today. He wants me back. He thinks I’m making a huge mistake being with you.”

“What do you think?”

“I think the huge mistake was leaving you in the first place and as long as you’ll have me I’m not going anywhere.”

Noah smiles at him and kisses Luke on the forehead.

“But he said he’s not gonna lie for you anymore. I’m afraid he might quit.”

“I can’t be angry with him for that. It’s a really horrible position I’ve put him in. Lying to Maddie isn’t really part of his job description.”

“Yeah you’re right. This whole thing is just so messed up.”

They sit in silence for a moment, thinking about the tangled web they are caught in.

“Noah you should probably go home soon.”

“It’s only 10 o’clock. I told Maddie I wouldn’t be home until midnight. I’m gonna stay a little while longer. We can just lay together.”

Luke nods and closes his eyes. Noah reaches down to the foot of the bed and pulls the covers over both of them. He runs his fingers through Luke’s blonde hair until he hears the heavy breathing that lets him know Luke is asleep. He feels his eyelids get heavy and realizes that the day’s events have exhausted him. He decides to rest with Luke for a little while before he goes home.

Noah wakes up to a buzzing sound. He looks around the dark room confused as to where he is for a moment. The sound was coming from the table beside the bed, but it has since stopped. He looks at the digital clock; it reads 11:32. He thinks to himself that he needs to leave right away to be home by midnight. He leans over and kisses Luke on the cheek. Luke slowly opens his eyes and looks up at Noah.

“You’re still here?” he asks sleepily.

“Yeah. But I have to be home in a half hour, so I’m going to leave okay?”

“Okay. I’ll walk you out” Luke says.

They both get out of bed. Noah picks up his clothes from the ground and starts to dress. Luke goes into the bathroom, he turns on the light and closes the door. The buzzing noise starts again and Noah realizes that it’s Luke’s cell phone. It’s vibrating on the bedside table near the alarm clock.

“Baby, your phone is ringing” Noah calls to Luke.

“Answer it for me” he shouts back.

Noah picks up the phone and looks at the name on the screen. Why would Reg be calling Luke at this hour? Noah flips the phone open and puts it to his ear.

“Reg why are you calling Luke?!”

“Believe or not to get a hold of you.”

“Yeah right, Reg. I know about you and Luke. He told me you still want him.”

“So he told you about us? Well I thought he never would.”

“He told me some. Some I already knew.”

“Well I guess it doesn’t matter now.”

“I guess not. So cut the crap Reg. Why are you really calling?!”

“I already told you, to get a hold of you. Your little wifey was in a panic when you didn’t come home last night. She called everybody she knew. Then she called hospitals and police stations. She thought you were dead in a ditch or under arrest. Finally she called me to see if I had heard from you.”

“Reg, what are you talking about? I’m not due home for another half an hour.”

“That’s not what Maddie said. She told me you were supposed to be home by midnight. That you promised to call if you’d be late, but she hadn’t heard from you since you left home last night around 8 o’ clock. And now it’s almost noon the next day.”

Noah runs to the window of Luke’s bedroom and throws the curtains open. Sunlight immediately fills the room, flooding it with light. He looks at the clock on the beside table and sees that it reads 11:36 a.m.

“Shit! What did you tell her?!” he demands.

“I told her not to worry and that I was sure you were fine and just forgot to call.”

“Thanks Reg. I really appreciate it.”

“But she was still really worried because your phone was turned off. So I told her that you always turn off your phone when you're fucking your boyfriend.”

Noah was silent for a moment, then said “You told her what?”

“She was confused at first so I explained everything to her.”

“What do you mean explained?”

“I told her that Luke is your boyfriend, not your best friend. I told her about you two dating in college and breaking up after graduation. I told her that you’ve been fucking him for the past month. I told her that you’ve been in love with him since you two broke up. I told her that her relationship and marriage with you was based on a lie. That’s when she really lost it. You should probably get home and talk to her about it, she seemed pretty upset.”

“Reg I can’t believe you did that. You had no right.”

“Well believe it. Oh by the way. I quit.”

The line goes dead and Noah stands frozen in place.

“So who was on the phone?” Luke starts to ask as he walks out of the bathroom.

He immediately covers his eyes trying to block out the blinding sunlight.

“Oh my god Noah! What time is it?”

Noah looks over once again at the bedside digital clock. He turns to Luke and says almost serenely “It’s 11:41 a.m.”

“Noah you really need to get home or Maddie will freak out.”

“It’s a little too late for that.”
