Disclaimer: Not real, never happened, No offense is intended.
Jake fell asleep almost immediately once the heat of the truck enveloped him. Van looked over at him and smiled, "he's so sweet" he thought to himself. He wanted to reach out and stroke Jake's chocolate hair, but he stopped himself, he didn't want to wake him up, or answer any of the question he might ask when he did. Van continued to drive, his mind on the sleeping man beside him.
"When did this happen?", he asked himself. He and Jake had clicked from the moment they met, they laughed at each others jokes, they understood each other comic book references. It had barely taken a week for them to constantly be in each others company; sharing books, watching television together in one of their apartments. In the beginning it had been simply comeraderie. Lately however, Van had felt it growing into something more. At least for him it had, and there lay the problem. He and Jake had never really discussed each others orientation. Van was publicly identifying as straight, but privately he had been in relationships with both men and women. Jake, on the other hand had always just been assumed a straight male. Van had never heard him argue it, nor had he ever seen any proof that he had any sexual orientation of any kind. In the year they'd been working together Jake had never had a girlfriend that Van could speak of, and as far as he knew, the only person he was kissing was him. Van shook his head, "Just because you've never met anyone doesn't mean there isn't someone in his life." He knew he had to stop convincing himself that Jake had the same feelings he did. It could ruin their relationship, both professional and personal, and he absolutely would not risk that.
Van pulled the truck into the parking complex of his apartment building and gently nudged Jake awake. Jake groaned and shifted in his seat, his head coming to rest on Van's shoulder. A scene from the show flashed in Vans head and he had to physically keep himself from peppering sweet kisses all over Jake's adorable sleepy face. Jake's eyelashes fluttered and he opened his eyes, "Hmm, hey." he mumbled sleepily, "are we home?"
Van considered his answer for a brief second, he couldn't help himself, "Yes, we're home"
