Summary: Follow up to Fun & Games | Luke and Noah come home and, well, the title pretty much sums it up.
Board games had long since become a staple in my family. Long, lazy summers and winter nights of power shortages took care of that. Of course, it helped that on family gatherings we always had enough players for a full game. It was a pretty great way to spend time with everyone.
Dad favored scrabble, always trying to one up the rest of us with words that had us reaching for the nearest dictionary. If you asked me, I'd probably tell you that I preferred video games. But to be honest, and this I will never admit to, my favorite has always been bingo. I can't even explain why. Maybe its because Emma used to always bake the prizes, or because if we ever got Aaron to call the numbers, he’d answer with terms like "legs eleven" or "meal for two"; a phrase that resulted in severe punishment from Holden, although I never understood why until I was older.
Faith and Natalie's favorite has always been monopoly. And they are ruthless. I mean it, I think Lucinda was secretly teaching them in between games. And when they played, there was no such thing as a ‘friendly game’. They meant business. Something Noah had learnt the hard way. I still remember our first game with them. He was was completely unprepared for their assault, and was bankrupt in less than 10 moves. The look of bewilderment on his face still makes me chuckle.
Of course, it didn't help that they were always making up their own rules. Someone (and I was wrongfully accused, as I'm pretty sure the girls did it) lost the original rule book years ago, and so they've brought in a few things. Suddenly there are events like christmas and birthday’s that reaped high fiscal rewards, unless of course, you were any other player. And they seemed to agree that it was perfectly fine to trade properties while no one was looking, meaning houses and hotels could pop up at any given moment of the game.
So you can understand how a simple after dinner game became a 2 hour battle of the wits. And that by the time it was over, I had almost completely forgotten about the earlier incident at dinner. Even as we drove home, the two of us were still baffled as to how Natalie had managed to score Boardwalk and wipe us clean off the board.
It wasn’t until we walked in the door to our place that I was reminded. Not through anything I did, of course, but because as soon as I walked over the threshold I was accosted by a certain boyfriend and thrust up against the wall. I felt the wind get knocked out of me, and just as I’d taken a breath it happened again, only this time it was a result of the look in Noah’s eyes.
There is no other way to put it; he was penetrating me with his eyes. I felt lightheaded, the mood of the evening having gone from 0 to 60 and back, and now I suspected we were inching closer to 360 than anything else. I wondered briefly if the reason I couldn’t feel my heart was because it had stopped, or maybe it was beating so fast I could no longer distinguish the beats. Either way, my entire body became still, frozen in some sort of hypnotized trance.
He was up against me within seconds, hands fisted in my shirt, lips attacking mine. It was an erotic assault of my senses. The sweetest silk in my mouth, the taste laced with honey thanks to Emma's desert; the butterfly kiss of his eyelashes, barely brushing my skin as we pressed closer; the cool scent of his cologne mixing with mine in the air between us. It took me all of half a second to respond. With my hands in his hair, I flipped us around, pressing into him further when his back hit the wall. Our lips met over and over, a duet long since perfected. His hands loosened their grip and he ran his flat palms downwards along my stomach, as my thigh slipped between his. Our lips were greedy, continuing their own exploration whenever we pulled back to breathe.
I reached for the clasp of his belt, making sure to loosen it maddeningly slow, my own small torture device as payback for earlier. It worked as well, his hands soon clasping over mine so that he could take control. I laughed into his mouth, swatting away his hands, and finishing the job. I pulled out of the kiss and lent back, out of breath, but full of fire. His eyes were a shade of azure that was reserved for only me; half-lidded, and rich with desire. I lent in and used my tongue to trace a route between his collarbone to his ear, as I pulled the belt out of his pants. He arched up, allowing the belt to move freely, and I disregarded it on the floor behind us. He responded by pulling my shirt up, stopping just as my hands went over my head, so that he could dip down and map out his own trail on my chest. My head lulled back as I arched into his mouth, basking in the feel of his lips on my skin, and the random pattern of kisses he left in his wake. When started to venture lower, I finished pulling my shirt off and pulled him back up, crushing our lips together before striping him of his shirt as well.
We collided again in a breathtaking kiss, nimble fingers dancing over memorized paths. We started to travel, our bodies moving in a slow waltz in the direction of the bedroom. We had fully disrobed by the time we got there, our constrictive clothing left forgotten by the wayside. Our movements grew increasingly intoxicating, never ceasing as we stumbled and crashed down on the bed. The air was cool, and yet I felt it crackle between us, heat bringing beads of sweat that begged to be tasted. I felt his hands, his tongue, his breath everywhere as I took him in, my body enveloping him. I gripped him closer, finding his mouth with mine, and felt every low guttural sound vibrate through me.
Afterward we lay together, my head on his chest, as our breathing slowed. My pulse was racing, a bass beat thrumming through my entire body. I smiled when I heard my heart’s beat echoed under Noah’s skin. I felt him trace lazy circles on my back, and I placed a kiss over his heart. Our fingers became intertwined as we exchanged “I love you’s”, and I stole one last taste of honey before drifting off to sleep.
