Luke's sick of fighting.

He's sick of struggling. He's sick of wheelchairs and deadbeat dads and wedding rings and the Army and affairs and all the stupid crap he's been put through in the last year.

He's not sick of Noah though. Never.

But for God's sake, any other couple, gay or straight or lesbian or whatever, that had am empty house for nearly the whole day would have already been in bed hours ago. But instead Noah's asking for his godamn shoes. And considering how his father screwed up what's the point of acting like he and Noah have any chance in hell of being happy? It's like the world is constantly against them. Maybe there is a God, and He's just really, really pissed about the whole gay thing. Or maybe the both of them should just wake up. Their relationship is just weird and there's no way something like it could last, no matter how much they may love each other. They're always waiting for each other. Waiting to get out of a wheelchair or to get over some Army phase. No way can it be this hard for any other couple.

So when Noah talks to him about the affair, he just lashes out.

"There is nothing keeping us from having sex. So why aren't we?"

He almosts regrets the words. Almost. But it's a reality they have to face. Like he said, happy endings don't exist.

His heart nearly burst out of his chest when Noah casually replied that they are meant to be together. But still, Luke fights that easy logic. Glorified roomates .That sounds like a good description. But when Noah holds him close, convinces him that Maddie meant nothing, that the two of them will have forever to love each other, and that they will get to have their happy ending, Luke finally stops fighting. Everything will work itself out.

Then they'll get their happy ending.
