*~*
They were standing in the kitchen, shirtless and breathing heavily as they faced each other.
“I’m telling you Noah, it’s not going to fit.”
Noah just smiled at Luke.
“How do you know? I haven’t even tried it yet.”
Luke shook his head, almost bouncing on the balls of his feet with excess energy.
“I just know it won’t. It’s too small for you.”
Noah moved closer, holding his hands out.
“Come on Luke. Just let me try it.”
Luke backed up a step, playfully staying out of reach.
“But what if you stretch it?”
“I promise. If it starts to stretch, I’ll stop.”
He quickly reached out and grabbed Luke, pulling him into his arms so that the blond crashed into his chest.
“Don’t you trust me?”
Luke snuggled into Noah’s broad chest, linking his hands behind his boyfriend’s back.
“Of course I trust you. It’s just that…”
“Just what?” Noah cooed, as he steered them toward the large kitchen table.
Luke ducked his head shyly. “It’s special. You know.”
Noah lifted Luke’s chin with a fingertip. He opened his mouth to reply but never got the chance as Holden and Lily stepped into the room from the porch.
The boys froze, and anyone watching the scene would have found it comical how their eyes froze on each other, swung together to Luke’s parents and then back to each other.
“Um… Hi boys.” Lily said. She and Holden stood there, not knowing where to look. All four of them froze in an awkward tableau.
Luke was the first to break out of the trance.
“Mom, Dad. I uh, didn’t think you would be back here tonight.”
“Obviously.” Holden managed.
Luke glanced back at Noah’s face, grabbed his t-shirt off the table
He locked his fingers through Noah’s and pulled him toward the stairs.
“We’ll just be going upstairs now.”
Luke would have sworn he saw his mother try to hide a laugh in his father’s shoulder as the two boys stumbled through he doors and up the stairs.
Luke tried to hold it in but he also burst out laughing as they reached the top steps. When he looked at Noah’s face it was still frozen in disbelief and shock.
“Imagine if they’d been here half an hour earlier.”
Noah froze, his hand hanging limply in Luke’s grasp. He slowly blinked as he shook his head.
“Don’t even joke about that.”
Luke thought for a moment, looked down at the t-shirt in his hands and looked back at Noah.
“I guess that you deserve to wear my special shirt now.”
Noah finally cracked a smile and they moved towards Luke bedroom. They’d spent most of the late afternoon there, experiencing their first time with each other as the sun’s warm rays drifted through the window.
Luke winked at Noah as they tumbled onto the bed again (after making sure to shut the door behind them).
“Even though you will stretch it.”
