Noah has a short list of moments where he’s been completely speechless.
And at that moment, Noah has never wanted anything more in his life.
3. Love
Noah isn’t sure he’s ever loved anyone in his life.
He knows now that he feared his father more than he loved him, and certainly never trusted him.
What he has with Luke though, that’s real, something tangible he feels in every touch, every look, and one of the few things he has to be sure about.
When Noah goes to see his father in jail, he feels hatred, disgust, and still, still, some sick, twisted tug in his stomach to go to the man whose approval he desperately wanted. With all the emotions going through Noah, he’s never needed Luke’s stable presence near him more.
Which is why Noah thinks Luke must be some sort of psychic when he suddenly shows up at the door.
When Luke stands up, yells at his father, yells that he loves Noah, he suddenly loses all the fight he had in him, forgets his father is even in the room, and just looks at Luke who’s standing, and so sure of himself, and Noah feels dizzy and euphoric, unsure of what to say at that moment. Luke loves him, and Noah knows for a fact that he loves Luke just as much, needs him just as much.
4. Sex
It’s no surprise to either of them when they finally snap. They seize their chance when everyone is going to be out of the farm for hours. They skip class, head to the farm, and finally get rid of that damned tension that’s been driving them both crazy.
There’s a moment afterward, when they’re both sticky and panting that Luke just looks at Noah, really looks, and laughs slightly, unable to express everything he’s feeling. Noah is exactly the same, and just leans down and kisses Luke instead.
5. A Future
“Promise?”
