Nero sighed. He should have known that having Dante’s roof over his head would cost more than a just few pizzas.
But this…This is too much. And having two Dante’s smirking at him wasn’t helping.
“Is all this really necessary?” Nero sighed as he tugged the sleeve of the red leather coat down over the devil bringer.
The first Dante, armed with Dante’s usual sword, just shrugged.
The second Dante, who had a sword which Nero hadn’t seen before that sparked thunder every so often sighed.
“Look kid.” He said. “These new guys that showed up are after me. They’re just small fry, they don’t even know exactly what I look like, but they’re quick buggers.”
“Yeah?”
“Well that hand of yours can be pretty damn quick too.” Dante two shrugged. “You do the maths. Hopefully at least one of us will catch one of the bastards.”
He then left the ally they were in and turned right.
“Have fun.” The first Dante said blew him a kiss. As she left the ally and turned left.
Nero shuddered. Trish was a way too good at disguising herself. He turned and walked out the opposite end of the ally.
Nero counted himself lucky that they had at least allowed him to keep his own weapons. Although maybe that was because Dante had noticed how his hand kept reacting to the Devil arms.
The devil bringer really drove him crazy sometimes. Nero sighed as he walked down the street, rubbing the palm of the demon hand with the thumb of his normal hand.
That was when something jumped on his back, grabbed his sword and cracked him over the head with it.
He stumbled with the force of the blow but caught sight of the small black demon vanishing around the corner, dragging Red Queen behind it.
“Hey! Get back here!” Nero shouted as he gave chase.
*****
There were three of them on the roof of the building behind him. This time he’d be ready this time he’d catch one and beat a name out of it.
Who the hell would want Rebellion anyway? Sure it had been Sparta’s sword but it didn’t contain the soul of a demon or the power to unlock a hell gate, It was just a plan sword to anyone but him.
The dark imp demons attacked.
BZZZ-T!
The three demons dropped dead the second they touched the swords handle.
Dante sighed and watched as their charred bodies dissolved into smoke.
Maybe he shouldn’t have chosen to use Alastor for this job after all.
*****
Trish grabbed the imp just as it reached for Rebellion’s handle.
“And what do you what that for?”
The imp hissed and vanished into smoke, escaping Trish’s grip.
Another one grabbed Rebillions handle and dashed away.
“Oh no you don’t.” Trish dropped the Dante disguise and threw a lightening blot at the imp.
Seeing it’s demise arcing towards him, the little devil threw the sword up into the air, where it was caught by a large, winged, snake like demon.
Trish pulled out Luce & Ombra and fired.
The winged snake proved to be just as quick and evasive as the little imps.
Trish Smirked.
*****
“Well that was a total fuck up.” Dante summed up when Trish met him back where they had first split up. “I fried mine, and you lost my sword.”
“You’re the one who gave it to me.”
“Yeah I should have learnt my lesson after you handed Sparta over to the holy order.” Dante paused. “You didn’t lose Rebellion on purpose did you?”
“We’re going to want to talk to Lady when we get back.” Trish said as an answer.
“Do you always have ta complicate matters?”
“Hey!” Nero shouted as he entered the ally. “You had better hope this thing can talk, I want my sword back!”
His glowing blue fingers were wrapped around the neck of one of the Imps.
“Yeah, yeah.” Dante muttered. “You and me both kid.”
