Sonic Gadien: Tested to Destruction?
Title: Tested to Destruction? Rating: PG Warnings: Violence against machines, mild blood, Original Character Word Count: 1,790
The second prototype entered the testing arena. Dressed in grey and holding a blaster with both hands the pink and blue hedgehog looks far too frail to be more than a moderate threat.
She knows she has to prove herself to her master or she would be destroyed, there was even the chance that the whole project could be scrapped.
She took a deep breath in.
There was a loud buzz over the speakers as the badniks entered the room and moved to attack.
And let it go.
Each blast from her weapon struck a badnik in their central processor. Some exploded some didn’t.
It didn’t mater as long as they were destroyed; nothing mattered as long as she proved she was better, that she was an asset and not a waste of resources. Useless badniks were melted down for scrap; she didn’t want to think what would happen to her.
It took her 30 seconds to clear the first room. She thumbed open the under side of the blaster and let the Battery fall out, and then slapped a new one from her belt into the chamber.
She had six more rooms to go.
She didn’t even look at the metal scrap and empty badnik husks at her feet as she headed for the door.
She knew what had happened to the forerunner of her project, how the clone had aged to quickly and had been used to trick Sonic into thinking he had met himself from the future, the clone had led him into a trap, and when it failed, her master had left the clone to die, to fade away as if he had never been.
She didn’t want to die.
The badniks knew she was coming. A Rinobot charged at her the second she kicked the door open. She jumped over the machine. The altered DNA that spared her the rapid ageing had also robbed her of Sonic’s raiser sharp quills.
But she still had his speed, or at least some of it.
This room was easily three times the size of the previous, and easily held four times as many enemies.
This mission was to get an item in the seventh room, she had to make sure that her blaster kept power long enough to get here there, she didn’t have enough replacement batteries to get her there if she just shot everything that got in her way.
Luckily for her, she had one narked off Rinobot who had finally managed to turn around and start charging at her back.
Honestly it had taken him long enough.
She took off running…er jogging…she had to make sure that bot thought he could catch her.
There were three crabs before her she quickly jumped over the three of them. The Rinobot charged right through them crushing them all.
The Prototype laughed.
And then quickly swore and jumped to the side, the Rinobot wasn’t destroyed yet and it was madder than ever.

Eggman watched from the observation room as his little pet cut a path of destruction though his old outdated Badniks.
She hadn’t been hit once, and she had found the shield that he had hidden in the third room.
She was going to need it, each room contained newer and newer machines.
As for the seventh room…
Eggman laughed to himself. He can always make another one like her, he could make thousands like her and how would he know what they were truly capable of unless he tested at least one of them to destruction?
*****
She was gasping for breath now, but there was one machine between her and the sixth room.
A Silver Sonic.
It started to get towards her, and she blasted it at least three times until she had to jump out of the way, she hadn’t expected him to jump too.
She landed hard on her shoulder, thrown off balance buy the impact. If it hadn’t been for the shield she had found a while back she might had lost her arm to the buzz saw blades the thing had instead of spikes.
And then the thing rolled over her gun. The clone glared at the machine.
“Aww now that’s just plan mean.”
The only reply from Silver Sonic was another attack. The clone rolled out of the way just in time for him to jet into the wall. She picked up her gun and quickly finished the machine off with it.
The clone gave herself a few second to catch her breath before opening the final door. She wasn’t so worried any more, she had expected this test mission to be harder.
She sighed when she realised that the last room was going to be the hardest.
In the center of the room was a pedestal with steps leading up to it, and on that pedestal was what looked like a Chaos Emerald, and between her and it was at least twenty squat little eggman robots, they didn’t look as intimidating as the old Badniks she had already blasted so far, but then again they hadn’t been armed them selves.
She checked her blaster and found she only had ten rounds left.
She took a step back and the door slammed.
The clone ground her teeth together and started firing. She had taken three down before she had to start running to avoid the returned fire. She jumped up and landed on one robots head, she managed to put her foot though it’s head before another one fired at her and hit her in the same should she had hurt earlier.
She only just managed to bite back the scream of pain as she felt the blood dripping down her arm. She returned fire to the one that had hurt her, and saw a item box behind the robots. Jumping again refusing to give into the urge to destroy the robots she was using as stepping stones lest she’d make herself an easy target again she shot the item box open and smiled.
She had never been so happy to see a fire shield in her life.
Hosting the blaster in her belt she activated the shield and threw herself at the robots, she managed to burn ten of them into flaming cinders before one got off lucky shot and hit her.
The blow hit her in the leg, it didn’t damage it like her shoulder, that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt however.
Six robots left, but only five blaster rounds. The clone gulped, She could still do this right? Her leg was painful but she could still run on it, it was her arm that was the problem, it was to painful to move and she was having trouble keeping her aim steady using just one.
She missed the first robot twice before hitting it’s CPU. She missed again before she hit the second’s.
Four robots left and she had nothing left to fight with. She tried to grab one of the robot’s rocket launchers but it was to heavy to use one handed and it slowed her down to much.
She charged at the four robot’s running though them and two of them fell for the trap and shot each other. She ran for her blaster and grabbed it, throwing it at one of the robots.
She would never have been able to throw the blaster hard enough to cause any damage to the robot but it still fired a rocket at it before it could hit, but when the rocket hit the blaster and exploded it was so close to the robot that it blew him up to.
Before the last remaining robot’s sensors could see clearly again the clone had already jumped up and put her foot though it’s metal skill crushing it’s CPU.
Gasping for breath and now favouring her leg the clone started up the stairs for the Chaos Emerald.
She took the yellow gem in her hand and looked at how the light caught it, she had never seen a Chaos Emerald before but she knew the things that could be done with one.
That was when the door snapped open. The clone smiled thinking the test was over and that she could leave.
Only a Metal Sonic entered the room.
The clone felt cold. There was no way she could beat one of those without a weapon!
In desperation she looked down at the emerald.
“Transform!”
Nothing happened.
She shook the gem.
“Come on! I’ve got Sonic DNA I must have some kind of superform or something, change me!”
Metal sonic tackled her and knocked her off the platform. This time the clone did scream when she hit the ground. But she didn’t let go.
“Transform…t-transform me please!”
She heard Metal Sonic pick up one of the robot’s rocket launcher, it didn’t need it, but this series of robot’s had always been on the sadistic side.
“What about a Chaos Spear can you do that?” The clone begged the emerald.
Grinding her teeth against the pain in her leg she managed to move before the rocket Metal had aimed at her could hit. She stood holding the gem out in her good arm like it was a weapon.
“Chaos Spear!”
Again nothing happened.
Metal sonic threw the rocket launcher aside. It’s jets revved and the clone knew that it was going to ram her into the wall and she would never survived that.
She held the Chaos Emerald close to her chest.
“Chaos Spear! Chaos Spear!” She whispered frantically. “Please I don’t want to die! C-Chaos Spear! Chaos…”
Everything went black.
*****
Eggman yelled and pounded his fists against the control panel when the monitors came back on.
Everything in the room was destroyed There was no sign of the fake Emerald or the pink and blue hedgehog.
The stupid girl trying to draw power from that useless lump of a gemstone must have cause the energy with it to overload and explode. The explosion had probably totally atomised her since it had knocked out systems all over the base and had flooded everything with Chaos energy, goodness knew what that had done to the other clone he had on standby.
Snarling Eggman left to see just how much damage that stupid clone had done to his base.
The only good thing was it hadn’t been the real Metal Sonic she had blown up along with her. No that beautiful machine was safely locked up where it couldn’t turn on him again.
Sometimes didn’t know why he was even bothering with cloning the hedgehog, or even duplicating him with machinery, it was clear that making his life a misery must be hard wired into every hedgehog mechanical or biological.
