Resident Evil Claire sat upstairs of the house she was temporally hiding out in. She had hooked up with the others only to have to go on the run again, they were now in Spain, Jill's friend Carols had become invaluable for communicating. But they had lost him. Claire who was still reeling from the lost of Steve who she could have grown to love in time that they had not been given.
"Claire?"
Claire looked over her should to see Jill, Claire hadn't had a chance to speak to her let alone get to know her but she was pretty sure Jill wanted to get to know Chris better.
"You want to talk about it?"
Claire shrugged one shoulder. And turned back to the window.
"You shouldn't sit so close to the window, you might be spotted."
Claire sighed and moved from the window still to the bed
"Better?"
Jill sighed. "Look moping isn't going to help anything, Rebecca John and the others can look after themselves."
"We left them behind."
"It was ether that or be caught, did you want to end up somewhere else like Rockfort Island?"
"No."
"Well nether did they."
Jill sat on the end of the bed. "Look just, try not to mope your brother..."
"Guys!Jill! Claire! get over here!" Carlos shouted from downstairs.
Jill looked at Claire for a moment before she left the room and walking down the stairs. Claire after a while followed.
Chris Barry and Carlos were playing cards. Carlos was winning. Barry was a fairly good card player but poker just wasn't his game, and Chris was distracted.
"Shame we're not playing for money or I'd been a very rich man now." Carlos grinned. Barry tossed his cards down. "Why don't we play something else?"
Chris didn't say anything. Barry was getting depressed himself, Carlos was okay but his accent was going to take some getting used to, and he was getting more big headed with each game he one. There was a knock at the door. Carlos looked at Barry and then Chris, when he saw nether of them were going to make a move he got up and opened the door.
POV Experimentation, sorry if it sucks I'll go back to using third person again soon enough
It's amazing how noise a place can be. When you really listen that is.
Tap tap tap
There are cars driving past and people speaking some language across the road, it might be Spanish but since I don't know Spanish myself I can't be sure.
Tap tap tap
There's my footsteps and the food steps of the man ahead of me. Someone had their music on a little loud in the building I just past.
Tap tap tap
Must be going past a park or something now, I can hear kids playing ball. More cars moved past these one's must have been going slower than the last one, they were quieter.
"Mr Kennedy?"
I looked towards the sound of the voice.
"Yes Trent." My own voice sounds dead to me.
"Are you sure your okay walking like this?"
No. I'm not happy. I don't like walking like this. I won't like anything like this.
"Yes." I said.
Trent started walking again.
Tap tap tap
I'm starting to hate the sound of Trent's new walking stick on the pavement..
Tap tap tap
I hate it because it's not Trent that needs it.
Tap tap tap
It's me
Tap tap.
"Mr Kennedy?"
"Yes." I clenched my teeth together.
"We're here."
I walked ahead. I ran my hand down the wood of the door trying to work up the strength to knock. I don't want to. I don't want to face the others. I don't want them to see me. Not like this. Two loud knocks made me jump out of my skin. I think Trent had used the cane to knock the door from behind me. Before I can think of fleeing the door opens.
"I don't believe it....CLAIRE!"
I finch at the sound of Barry's voice. I hear movement from inside the building. A gasp suddenly I'm almost knocked off my feet by something, someone barring into me. Two arms trap me and I'm trying not to panic.
"Claire." I say but my voice is cut off.
"I was so worried, I though....I thought...never mind what I thought as long as you o..." This was the moment I had feared. God if the earth was ever going to swallow me up now would be a very good time.
"Leon looked at me."
I turned my head to the sound of her voice. She moved it a little to the right, my aim had been a little off. There was a draft on my face. Was she waving her hand across my eyes?
"No...Leon..."
I looked down in shame.
"I'm afraid miss Redfield that Mr Kennedy was injured before I managed to arrange his release." Trent said saying what I couldn't. "He's blind."
Claire was just staring at Leon her one of her hands was still on his shoulder. Another larger hand fell on Leon's other shoulder his head snapped away from where he though Claire’s face was and his sightless gaze fell on Chris's shoulder.
"It's Chris Leon, why don't you and Claire come into the living room."
Chris used his hand on Leon's shoulder to guide him away. Claire following.
"What the hell happened to him?" John demanded.
"He was fine when we left him." Rebecca said. "He was trapped but he was fine."
Chris came back into the room, he stood in the doorway waiting for Trent to answer.
"I brought Leon's plight ti the eyes of Umbrella, I had thought that once Umbrella had saved him from the HFC I could arrange for him to escape."
"But?" David asked.
"Leon was more resourceful than I had hoped. He had escaped on his own from both the HFC and the Umbrella team sent in to 'save' him. There was however, an explosion. Though Mr Kennedy escaped the worse there was still some lasting harm done"
"Lasting harm? Is it permanent?" Chris asked.
"Only time can tell, and I'm sorry but I can't stay any longer." Trent turned and left, leaving Leon standing alone in the door way.
Leon was sat in the room, Chris had told him that he would be right back so he has assumed he was on his own, until he heard a creek of leather to his left.
"Who's there?"
There was no answer but he knew someone was there.
"Who is it? Claire?"
"Yes."
Leon let out a breath, it was dumb he was with his friends but he was still scared.
"I thought you had gone with your brother."
Claire shook her head though Leon couldn't see it.
"Claire?"
"Sorry, I...I didn't want to leave you alone."
Leon managed a weak smile for her but Again Leon's face was directed in slightly the wrong direction.
"Oh Leon..." Claire was fighting tears.
"Hey hey." Leon reached his and out for Claire It was a moment before she took it.
"Don't cry, Trent's doctors said I might get my sight back, until then..."He interrupted himself with a yawn and looked towards where he thought Claire was sheepishly. "I think it would be great to be able to sleep in a place where I know I'm safe."
"You can sleep in my room for now." Claire said pulling Leon towards the stairs he tripped on the first step.
"Ow." Leon muttered.
"Sorry, er...there're stares here."
"I noticed." Leon said with a half grin on his face.
Claire moved slower so Leon could keep up, He had one hand in hers and the other against the wall, it took a while but Claire told him when Leon reached the top so he wouldn't trip again. From there getting to the bed room was easy. Leon sat on the bed, he took of his leather jacket and his boots. Before laying stretched out.
"This is better, I haven't been able to sleep since Trent picked me up. I kept thinking someone was in the room with me watching." Leon shuddered before Yawning again.
"Keep that up and you'll get Lock Jaw." Claire said but the mirth in her voice was forced. "If you need anything shout."
"Sure thing." Leon said getting comfortable. "Thanks."
"Your welcome."
The door closed. Claire went into her brothers room and started crying.
Three hours later Leon woke up. Where am I? It's dark...wait I can't see why can't I see? Then the memories came, the gunfire the moaning of zombies an annoying female voice saying he had less than a minute to live. The panic the mad run past monsters the undead. Then foolishly, stupidly looking back to see if he was far enough away yet. Only to get a face full of explosion. Then blackness. It was to much for Leon, He pulled the blanket over his head dot muffle the noise and started to weep. He stiffened when he heard a creek. He wiped his face on the blanket he was curled under before sitting up.
