Maybe it was like ripping off a band-aid. Just pull and don't look back. The first explosion was white and smoky over the ocean. It reminded her of how the sky looked over the lake back home at the end of things. They hadn't known what was about to happen to the world. Then again, Rhiannon thought, no one ever did.
