Now what the hell do I do? Izzy Shaw stared at the tiny piece of jewelry innocently sitting there nestled in its box. It was just some gold and diamonds, nothing that should cause her the least bit of trouble, so why was she looking at it as if it would jump out and bite her? How she'd missed this the witch had no idea, considering she'd read the diary and had talked to Mark on the phone. But whatever mental block she'd put up at the idea of a fiancee had come tumbling down when the jeweler called to tell her that her ring had been repaired and could be picked up whenever she was ready. She'd known in her gut what kind of ring they were talking about, but it wasn't until she'd seen it that her suspicions had been confirmed for certain. Mark had proposed to her and she'd obviously accepted. It didn't matter that it had happened to the 'other Isabelle', Izzy was in this body now, she had to live with the consequences.
Other than Rhiannon, Connor, Purity and Whistler there wasn't another living soul who would know the difference between Isabelle before she'd walked out into the low tide and Izzy when she'd walked back to shore.
Now she sat on the beach, watching the light from the setting sun sparkle off the diamonds set in the golden band and wondering if it would be better just to call Mark and break it off now. She didn't want to hurt anyone, and it would only get worse the longer she let things continue. But she knew her other self had loved him, and there had to be something there even if their personalities were so different.
"Oh give it a fucking rest and get it over with Izzy!" She muttered angrily to herself, annoyed with herself for the indecision. "You're an adult, act like it." The witch plucked the ring from the box, slipped it on her finger, and gasped. Snatches of memory of 'her' relationship with Mark flooded her brain.
