The last few mornings had been pretty mild. It was nice to just be home with the three of them, going through day to day life and not worrying about much else. Anna had her writing time in the morning, when she was too groggy to give Gracie the attention their little girl deserved. They had lunch together before Gracie's nap (which gave her and Cas some alone time - when she wasn't dealing with morning sickness). And then there were walk to the park and other outings, and then dinner and the bedtime routine. And it was all sickeningly sweet and normal and Anna was ridiculously happy about all of it. It was nice to have all the things she'd Fallen to achieve. A little surprising, but oh so nice.
Anna had actually decided to lie down while Gracie napped today. And being unable to make herself turn off the baby monitor, she was up the second their little girl started babbling. Anna crawled out of bed and down the hall to retrieve her. And then settled Gracie on the floor in the living room while she went to pee. She came back to see their daughter pulling herself up beside the coffee table and standing unsteadily.
She wasn't about to let that opportunity pass.
And she wasn't about to let Cas miss it either.
"Come here, Gracie." Anna crouched down and reached out her hands. "Cas! You're gonna want to come in here for this. "Take a step, sweetheart. Come on, walk to momma." She wiggled her fingers, watching their unsteady one year old watching her curiously with a very familiar, very determined expression in her eyes as she leaned forward to prepare for that first step.
