Summary: Dominique discovers something this morning and she's not exactly thrilled about it. Completion: In progress
When Dominique had awoken that morning she could tell that something was a bit off. Chalking it up to just having tossed and turned all night she got up and went about her usual morning routine. She made a small breakfast, hopped in the shower, got dressed, it wasn't until she went to go dry her hair that she really noticed that something was off. She couldn't be certain but something was just a little bit different about her reflection. She still looked like herself, but something was...different. Shaking her head she attempted to preform the drying spell she did nearly everyday on her hair she found she was unable to do it. Thinking that maybe she was just having an odd day she just left her hair the way it was and decided to try something else.
After an hour of sitting on her bed trying to get the book at the end of her bed to come to her Dominique was really starting to panic. She then just tried to get a spark to come out of her wand. No dice. She had just bought the stupid thing yesterday. It couldn't be broken already. But didn't even broken ones still emit smoke or something? Then an odd idea hit her. No. That was preposterous. Her magic couldn't be gone. It was a part of who they were, it was in the DNA or something...then it hit her.
"Son of a-" she said standing up and going over to the window and looking at her reflection. That's what was off. If her magic was gone, then that meant maybe the other damn gene was gone too. She stood staring out the window with a panicked expression on her face. All those years of wishing that it would go away. That she could be normal like everyone else she knew. Gone. At first she was ecstatic, she let out a little bit of a victory yell, but then it hit her like a ton of bricks. She was normal now. Sure she looked the same more or less, but she wouldn't have a hold on people like it normally did. A terrifying vision of her ex came to mind, and a sudden panic took hold in her chest.
She'd known for a while that Murphy loved her and she love him. And Aiden, if he meant to or not, let it slip how they ended up. Marriage, three kids, it all sounded perfect. But, that was when she was her usual self. No. No. No. She was not going to think that way. It wasn't happening. She was sure of this. It wasn't going to change anything. She just, well, didn't have any magic. And it couldn't be gone forever right? Maybe it was like the flu? She heard the door knob turn and yet, and her head snapped to it's direction before she went diving under the covers and pulling them all around her, covering herself completely in a sitting up position. Why was she being stupid if she knew everything was going to be fine? Dominique didn't have a clue. All she knew was that she wasn't budging from where she sat on the bed gripping the edges of the covers like her life depending on it.
