Forrest Wood: The Hatter There once was was a man who hailed from the Kingdom of Wonder, and despite holding marvelous tea parties and entertaining everyone with riddles and games everyone knew him to be a bit odd, perhaps even a bit mad if you will. Things haven't really changed much for Forrest. He's a 26 year-old contractor and working the occasional odd job for sweet old ladies and often forgets to take payment in return for fixing her leaky sink. Life wasn't supposed to be that way for this energetic and imaginative young man, he was a top student athlete (track & field) and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Math and Creative Writing from Pepperdine University in Malibu and all set up for Grad School. However, that didn't happen as he and his twin brother, Hunter were involved with a horrific car accident.
The accident left Forrest a little more odd than he had been before. And he was at least harmless, energetic, weird before. Now he's just...well, everyone's convinced he's crazy including himself some days. The doctors claim it's a combination of PTSD, some memory loss, and some schizophrenic tenancies to which, he is taking medication for. However, that doesn't stop him from messing with his parents who still live in Hill Top and act like he's some skeleton in their closet. When he's not at work you can usually find him at his gym working out (because the boy has found an outlet through boxing of all things and enjoys the hell out of it), taking long hikes, surfing, making sure that Hunter eats, defiantly not picking up hookers on accident that one time, and is a stand in for anyone who needs an outlet to swear. He's a bit crazy, and random stuff will come out of his mouth, and he can be a little hard to follow sometimes. But he's harmless...mostly.
Matt Rodriguez: The Big Bad Wolf. This man right here is your-not-so-friendly-but-well-meaning-but-still-will-eff-you-up police officer/detective here in Luna Bay. Before he moved back in 2013 Matt was a badass Recon Marine, so you know, the boy here has some skills. Matt can come off as a little grumpy, or stand-offish, or really like he just doesn't care. And really, okay he probably doesn't care all too much unless he know you. However, beneath the layers of sarcasm, death looks, eye rolls, and walls, he's got a squishy center who just wants to do right and living up to an almost impossible standard in his head. As a teenager, Matt's dad was killed helping fight the wild fires and ever since Matt has had this standard in his head he feels like he needs to live up to. More or less in a good place with it now that he's entering his mid-thirties. Growing up he was a charmer, an athlete, and hopelessly in love with his now ex-wife Julia Cruz. Who divorced him during his third deployment in 2009. deployed via letter from a lawyer, good times. In the fall of 2018 Matt took a leave of absence from work in order to take full time care of his dying grandmother before she passed between Christmas and New Years. He returned to the force in February after finally sorting out all of her affairs and such.
He grew up with three sisters, and now two of those sisters have produced spawn for him to love (as well as his best friend produced spawn as well) so you can often find him in the summers coaching little league for his nephew's team (okay it's tee ball. He's five. Leave him alone.). When he's off duty he's usually hanging out in his place in Breakwater, taking long trips in his Charger, watching baseball (or playing beer league softball), surfing occasionally, playing video games, getting conned into babysitting, or getting conned into doing something wholesome with his partner at work, or telling his best friend new and creative ways to shut up. Really, it is a hobby. Trust him.
