The entire week, Hunter had been terrified that somehow he was still at the risk of losing Nieve again. The scare a week ago had shaken him to the point of tears. He was shocked when Caius and Luca showed up and, instead of making fun of him, were really supportive of the fact that he was crying. Still, nothing him feel better than when he was able to drive her home. The Linwoods seemed to understand he wanted to make sure she was okay. There was no way they, after all these years, did not know how he felt for their daughter. But since she came home, he had been over every day after work and would not leave until she was in bed and ready for sleep. Nights were not very restful as he was always afraid he would miss a phone call from her asking for help again. It was simple enough to say that Nieve all but consumed his time now and he was never happier.
So when he heard she wanted to see him. That she wanted him there with her... there was no way he could say no to that. He rushed from work the moment he could and picked up some food on the way to her place. He knew she was going to be bored out of her mind and he wished he could bring He-Man by, but the kitten still hated travelling. He pulled up behind her car and shut the door, digging out some microwavable stuff to make her before hurrying up to the door to escape the cold.
The moment his keys were inside the door, he heard Hawkeye on his way to say hi. He smirked and opened the door, letting his hand drop to where his head would be. The dog was easily the most reassuring part of Nieve being home alone at night. He was a good dog. "Where's momma, at, huh?" he asked the dog before heading into the living room and seeing her. Yes, she was fine. A relieved smile crossed his face and he put the food down on the coffee table before he beckoned her in for a hug. "Bored yet," he asked when his arms wrapped around her. "You are looking better at least."
