Lestat's laughter was musical. He shook his head, his body quaking with laughter. "Oh, I'm not worried. I've written more than that in quite a few books for all the world to see." he explained. The expression on Draco's face conveyed fear to him and his heart was pumping faster. Lestat was far too old to be bothered by the temptation, however. "Oui, I'm a vampire." he clarified with a devil-may-care grin. "But you needn't worry. I won't bite. I'm on my best behavior."
"That home was in Auvergne." he continued. "It was destroyed during the French Revolution sometime during the 1780s. My entire family is dead, with the exception of my mother and myself. Mon dieu, it's been a couple centuries, almost. I was in Cairo when I'd received the news. Our family name is 'de Lioncourt'. My mother Gabrielle was from a wealthy Italian family and my father was French. They had several children but five died at childbirth. I was the youngest of three sons. After my father passed my eldest brother Augustin would have received everything, which wasn't much. We were wealthy but also living in poverty."
