Standing with his tray at the entrance of the cafeteria floor, Emile's blue eyes scanned the room for a place of solitude. The first week of classes had passed uneventfully. There were events that took place, absolutely, and the private journals offered plenty of opportunities for students to find extra-extra curricular entertainment. These, however, never interested him and for yet another year, he would try to maintain his distance from others. People tend to ask questions, offer small talk, and judge. He had been at the academy for four years, but old habits die hard.
Emile passed a couple tables, spotting a familiar two-top against the northern wall, and bee-lined towards it with blinders. He would never be so bold to claim this table as his own, but how he wished he could. It was even situated near a picture window, offering a sunlit view of the Chapel behind the Infirmary. As he sat down, placing the tray on the surface, he smiled softly towards the Chapel and closed his eyes and hands in prayer.
