"I spend as much time as anyone else." Max shrugged slightly. It was simply the nature of his profession. He found people doing things they didn't want to be found doing; they wouldn't hide it or try to if they wanted others to know. He didn't always like it, but he knew that eventually it would lead to some sort of truth for someone. Some sort of closure or ending of things that shouldn't be happening.
"I don't exactly help. I get paid." Usually. He wasn't so heartless that he never took a pro bono case. He'd done at least one missing persons for some down on their luck parents before. Something about a missing child always got him. Or a missing sister, though anyone who'd read or seen enough detective stories knew that the missing sister was usually a ruse of some sort. The missing sister bit always came back to bite a guy in the ass. Or a shot a bullet to the brain.
