Clark did his best to help with clean up as much as Lois allowed when they were both finished. He tried not to ache too much as he thought of the hustle and bustle of the bullpen going on without them. He might have initially gotten into journalism because he thought it was a good way to stay in touch with what was going on in the world, but he'd fallen in love with reporting. From ferreting out the truth to telling stories that might not otherwise make it to print, to the daily chaos in the bullpen... he loved it all, and he missed having that purpose.
He smiled at Lois' request and held out his arm to her.
"I'd like that, Lois."
She didn't necessarily need him to play guard dog, but he liked getting the chance to do so all the same. Especially in this unfamiliar environment with captors that couldn't be trusted. That mistrust had less to do with them being aliens than with them having kidnapped everyone in this group in the first place. He still didn't know their goals or reasoning, but he knew that he wasn't going to fall into a false sense of security here, and he wasn't going to leave Lois alone for too long if he could help it.
