"We will." Niks gave Evan a small smile, wondering just how much of their conversation the cat had heard. She waited until her partner finished whatever it was he was doing before setting the parsley on the plate. She also grabbed an extra fork, a clean one, for Mikey to use.
"Also, I believe I am too close to the situation to say with any confidence that I would find this amusing. I may feel sympathetic, especially when the person in this situation is obviously new to whatever is happening. This is not something people simply experience on a daily basis. It's not some situational comedy; it is someone's life." Yes, he had hurt her feelings more than once this evening, and the fact that he didn't even seem to remember she hadn't laughed when he was angry earlier about a very uncomfortable situation of his own...She just squared her shoulders, lifted her chin, picked up Mikey's plate and one of the salads and turned to walk away.
"Mikey, dinner. I would prefer to eat at the table, please." She walked the food over to said table, setting first one plate then the other down. "Milk or water?" At least she was asking what the cat might want.
