Mary really had missed having Johnny around. The presence of her family made it bearable, but it was nice to have someone who was on the same wavelength as she was. Someone who was completely in her corner.
She laughed softly at the response.
"My thoughts exactly." She sighed, the laughter fading away as she tilted her head to look at him. "We're never getting out of here unless they decide to let us go, are we?"
She didn't want him to lie to her. She just wanted to be able to voice that fear and not have someone spew false optimism at her. It didn't mean that she was giving up. It just meant that in her darkest moments, she felt resigned to her fate. That she recognized that this was way above her paygrade and she wasn't even sure where to start in finding a way back home.
