"Not enough for you, but enough for me," Mary answered. "And I think we might be able to sneak bottles out of the bar. If they're giving drinks away anyway, they probably won't object too much." She quirked an eyebrow, curious if he planned on going for a buzz this time around. It definitely involved more planning than for her, but it was worth the work. The only two times that it had happened had been amusing. Of course, both had been before they'd become whatever this was. Both times had been a strange balancing act between the Johnny she knew in her time and this Johnny. It was still a balancing act, but this version of Johnny from his past had been honest with her in ways that his future counterpart never had.
She took his hand with a squeeze.
"Your choice. Are you drinking today or not?"
Of course, he could always limit himself to one or two drinks and not feel anything. She did feel a little sorry for him at that. The inhuman tolerance made for good fodder for joking around, but it tended to take away one of the coping mechanisms that hunters tended to lean on at times. It might not be a healthy coping mechanism, but little about the hunter's life and little about this place was conducive to healthy lifestyles anyway.
