She still wasn't quite ready to let herself believe that Johnny was actually here. That this wasn't some cruel trick. And yet, the arms around her felt so real. The smell of him, the gentle way he kissed her hair, all of that would be hard to fake.
She took a deep breath and pulled back to look up at him. They'd only just gotten close enough that physical touch was a comfortable thing before he disappeared. She reached up to run a hand along his cheek.
"Don't be. I knew it wasn't your choice. Might have been easier if I was able to blame you for it though," she gave him a watery smile. Anger was always an easier emotion to deal with than loss.
She didn't want to think about what the aliens might have done to him during all that time he'd been missing. If he wasn't home, well, that didn't exactly ease her mind about where he's been.
"Come on," she jerked her head. "We can't stand out in the hallway all day. There's a bar downstairs and a minibar in my room. Your choice, so long as we go somewhere with liquor. I've got stories to share with you."
It wasn't that she was over losing him and then having him return, so much as she was just ready to get out of the hallway and change the subject. There were some things about the planets he'd missed that she thought he might want to hear about, and she wanted to at least try for normal for a bit.
