"Why won't I play with you, Niks?" Evan was a little horrified. He didn't see how she couldn't understand why he wasn't going to just jump into bed with her. As much as he wanted to, Evan had a lot of problems with the idea of being with Niks right now, and that included the kissing they'd just experienced.
"Niks, because of the fact that you would even ask me that. Because of the trauma you've experienced. You don't know how to control yourself, you don't seem to know what you really want half of the time. You're ..." Evan waved a hand near his head, trying to come up with the word. "You're confused, mixed up, you have to figure yourself out before you can look outside of yourself for anything."
He shook his head, frustrated. "Fuck, Niks. I don't even know what would happen with me in that situation. What if I went wolfy and mauled you? Even if you survived it, how do you think I'd feel? This whole situation is rife with problems before we even get to the concept of our intrusive third party."
As happy as he was to see her again, as much as he'd enjoyed that closeness, Evan wasn't ready for this argument. His brain wasn't awake enough, and the more they talked, the more he feared Simon would show up and be angry that Niks was upset.
"We can't go anywhere private together. Not right now."
